I have never been to Disney in July or August. Is it way too hot to enjoy? Also, I heard these can be very busy times. Is this true? I want to try to plan a surprise trip for my hubby for the summer, but I need all of your wonderful advice.

We went last August and it was hot but not unbearable. We were in and out of a/c and the pools (staying onsite helped - we took quick lunch/swim breaks daily) and the lines were fairly short. There were some spectacular t-storms - we ran around in our ponches and got drenched! I would definitely do it again!

all i can say, imho, raised in the new england climate, i went once for 2 weeks in july, i thought i knew about heat and humidity, I WAS WRONG, fla showed this country boy a whole new meaning of the word hot
you can't drink enough cold water a day, i think i spent more on water than food, and i was in fw and brought 6 cases with me in 5th wheel trailer with ac and freezer to do the half empty frozen bottle trick, i think we left with i unopened case, and mind you this was only 2 adults
wdw in summer? NEVER AGAIN

I'm very nervous about the heat, as well. I'll be there for a bit in July at a conference and hope I can tolerate the mixture of crowds and heat.

We've done it several times because we don't take the kids out of school. My best advice is to bring an extra pair of sneakers as they do not dry out over night after walking in the rain.

Yes, it can be very hot and very humid in the Summer. We went the last two years in August and although it is humid, it is not bad enough to keep us away. We usually go the last two weeks of August, when the summer crowds start to decrease because of the start of schools. This makes it bearable and as riopooh said just plan to take breaks at the pools, snack and lunch breaks in a/c and visit the water parks and you should have a great time!! My dh gets the last two weeks in August off every year, atleast right now, so this is when we usually visit and he does not like the heat very much and still we do fine. We always manage to have a great time, heat and all.

Enjoy!!:D

We have gone several times during the summer. This year we are booked July 18-30, smack in the middle of summer.

I would say that if you are into commando touring, the summer heat will make it tougher along with the summer crowds.

But if you are willing to relax, enjoy the sights and find shade when it presents itself, you'll have a great time.

I think different people have different tolerances to heat. We don't find Orlando to be unbearable at all during the summer. But we are used to hot and humid summers, so I'm sure that plays into it.

It is in the hot 'n humid summer months that an afternoon break is most useful. In the heat of the afternoon, head to your hotel room for A/C or a dip in the pool - and a nap. Since it is summer, the parks are open much later - you can get more than enough touring in but still avoid a 3PM heat stroke.

I've been in July 3 times and in June once. It does get hot....but I didn't think it was unbearable. I would say during our stay it was around 90 degrees--hot but hey--we're on vacation, who cares :teeth:

I guess I've found that I enjoy the summer months even though they are crowded and hot. All the shows and fireworks are running continually and it just seems more festive. Last year we went in April and while the weather was perfect, I can say that what stunk was the park hours and lack of entertainment!

We have been going in the summer since 1976! In some ways it is the best time of the year--you don't have to pack much! You can get away with one small suitcase for a swimsuit, a few shorts and tops, or dresses, and you're done. It's so much harder to pack when you go down in the winter, when you have to take everything you own, from shorts to winter coats.

If you do the parks or other activities in the AM, do the pool, a nap, and air conditioned things in the PM, then to the park for fireworks, and activities at the resorts. DO NOT try to do the parks in the PM! Too much heat, and too many people. The idea, in the summer, is to relax.

I am from Michigan-NORTHERN MICHIGAN--so I am not usually used to heat, but the only times I really found the heat to be unbearable were June, after a cold spring, and when I was having a lot of hot flashes!:teeth:

My sister and I are teachers so we end up going over the summer all of the time! It is definitely hot, but there's lots you can do to keep cool. Make sure you go inside during the hottest part of the day and enjoy some A/C in shows and in door attractions. Carry plenty of water..I recommend the Polar bottle that keeps the water colder than other bottles longer. You can even put in a filter! Most of the counter restaurants will give you fresh water for free to refill your bottle. We also carry a washcloth to use when very hot. You can always rewet it in order to cool your neck off or your face. Wear white/light clothes made of cotton. Spray your feet with deoderant to prevent blisters! Hope these tips help! We'll be there as well!! 89 days and counting!! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Bring a spray bottle to mist yourself with water. Also, if you have any hot weather in your home town, try to go outside when it's hot to try to get used to the heat (don't hide inside in the a/c!)

Drink lots of water, and you will be fine.:o I drink MORE water at WDW than I do at home. Also, stay away from salty products during the day, and you won't be too thirsty. Less clothing the better, wear cami/strappy shirts and shorts. Also, rain will come up at any time, so bring a poncho.:p
