Summer fun. Hopefully

I am thinking we will be going out west this summer for some family visits and hiking in the Rockies. It seems like they will be "reopening" much faster than we will be in Ontario. I hope this "plan" is a flexible guideline. If vaccinations increase and cases are down, it would be criminal to keep businesses closed during June and July.

Hiking in the Rockies sounds absolutely amazing. What a spectacular place. I don’t know when yet but I definitely plan to get back in the next few years to do the same.

Our aspirations are unexpectedly turning out to be much grimmer. We got word last week a very dear close family member has been diagnosed with end-stage metastatic liver cancer. He will be taking no treatment except comfort measures. Right now we are fervently praying that hospitals and hospice facilities will open up to visitors by the time he gets there, and that reasonably sized funeral gatherings will be allowed. All our vacation time will likely be taken up in this way as their home is 500 miles from ours.

So very very very sorry.

Montreal will wait a week to go orange for inside dining, but most of the rest will open Monday.

The bigger news is La Ronde is open. Hoping to go there by July.

Yes, this is true. I no longer do rides, my daughter used to go faithfully. I told my husband we are having breakfast OUT all weekend to support the restaurants

DH and I are going to eat inside a restaurant Saturday night and the family is going out for breakfast on Sunday!

My DS just got hired to work at a summer camp in Muskoka for the next year so really, really hoping overnight camp can happen in Ontario this summer. So far it looks positive!

As much as I want NS to get back to normal asap, I hope I get another summer working part time at home LOL We really made use of our Intex pool last summer, it was a taste of what my summers will be like during retirement

Well I searched and searched and finally found an open campsite at Algonquin park for a few nights in August . Ds17 will be working so it will just be dh and I . A little something to look forward to anyway.

The Meat Smoker that has been going since 6 am.

Smoke has been blowing in my face all day!
New neighbors--one over and above and on a on wood balcony.
Lord it has been a tough day to have to stay indoors.
Maybe I need to find a cottage to get some fresh air.

DH and I are going to eat inside a restaurant Saturday night and the family is going out for breakfast on Sunday!

It's DH and my 20th anniversary end of June. If the stay at home order is lifted here mid June, DH wants to book us on a patio for dinner to celebrate. Trying to decide how I feel about it. We haven't gone out since pandemic started (aside when we were away at a cottage like resort last summer but numbers were low).

That has got to be against all kinds of rules. I know DS wasn't allowed to have a BBQ on his balcony (and that is a shorter lived smoking event than a smoker)

Ah sorry to hear about that |Mel, but. As someone who has 3 bbqs and 2 smokers I am lucky at least my neighbours have said they like the smell that comes out of them. They of course have been able to taste what comes from them as well so I guess I buy them off. It is tough living as close as we all do to each other. Some from the smells, others from younger kids screaming. We do all try to get along. Maybe try to make peace and offer some sides up for exchange for some yummy brisket or pulled pork, whatever they are cooking. Unfortunately some smoking takes 10 to 15 hours depending on size and meat.

Well to be honest I could not smell anything cooking just blasted firewood smoke for hours.
Ahhhh 3BBQs & 2 smokers,,, holly smoke! LOL
