Summer discount out now

I thought it was cleverly worded on Disney's part. I first dismissed it because I had room only and thought this was just a package. However the system let me process my change reservation link with this promotion!

Were you able to get the special magic band then? Like, is it an option in your customization choices? We currently have a passholder room with dining and I may be willing to pay an increased price to get the bands, if we can really do it as a room only or room plus dining.

What is the fall promo you are hoping to get?

Whatever fall promos come out to stay after 8/25 with a discount in case I need to change my dates. The girlfriend has that whole week off, so we're planning so go sometime within that week depending on how cheap we can get the flights.

Looks like King and Royal Rooms are the only availability at POR, we have 2 regular rooms booked. No savings for us. I'll keep checking......

We booked a Garden Room yesterday. Check back and see.

It does pay to keep checking. I was just able to book a Garden View room and saved a whopping $1.56 over my original reservation total. I know it is more as my original room was standard, but it was funny to see the price only change by $1.56. Every dollar counts right?

I had a CR Tower Bay Lake, and with the discount, I moved to a Tower Theme Park and saved $700!

I mean, you don't have to book something that's more expensive than your current res. I was able to see my reservation quote go down $950, and then hit the booking button.

We didn't change the old reservation. I was just confused about this because the last time we went we only had to check in by the last date of the promo to get the discount for our entire stay. What a bummer.

This is only true for something like Free Dining, but for a room discount your entire stay must fall inside the discounted period.

How does the Summer Discount work? I already have a room reserved to 2BR savanna view villa at AKL. I've been told that there are none available for this promotion. Is it that this room type has been excluded or is it that they allotted only a few that have already been snatched up so Disney cannot apply the discount to my existing reservation.

If it is the later, is it worth it to keep trying in hopes that someone will cancel their summer promo reservation?

If you already have a reservation and they can apply the discount to your current reservation IF the number of allotted rooms has not been booked already, your room just becomes one of the allotted group. If they have been all booked, then they cannot apply it to your room.

And you should always keep checking as a lot of people will book these rooms when they first come out and then change their minds or upgrade, thus releasing a room you can use. On day one I had no options of applying the discount. Next day I was able to get a discounted room. It was an upgraded room from what I had, so no savings in cost, but a better room for no more money than my current reservation total.

Thank you. I am kicking myself now for not being patient. I called three times early Monday and the hold was so long I kept hanging up. I finally got through later afternoon and nothing. I am looking at a potential saving of $500 so I will keep trying.

You can also do it online if you have your MDE account set up. That is how I did it. I am also still checking and if a standard room comes open I will go back to the standard and save the money.

On another note, can anyone explain what the special magic bands will do? We have not been since they implemented magic bands so not familiar with the special effects they have on the limited edition ones. I not a big fan of the looks of this band, but if the special effects are worth it, I may grab one just for one person in our party. Otherwise I would rather have the solid color bands.
