I am enrolling in a summer class. The summer semester is just 6 weeks. I am taking American Government. This is normally a full semester class. Am I going to drown taking it in 6 weeks instead of the traditional semester 16 weeks? Do instructors normally pare down the summer classes, not present as much material and require as much work out of students? I have to take a class in summer, I have no choice.

It wont be bad. Summer classes are usually easier. Teachers grade easier or give less work. Sometimes they dont but usually they do.

I signed up for two classes this summer. 6 credit hours in four weeks:scared1: what was I thinking! lol

Ahh wow, that sounds like a scary class.

I am taking Spanish ALL summer... ahhhhh. Then I'll be missing a week of college in September for my trip, lol!

I've taken many summer classes and love them. They allow you to focus on one topic. You will live, eat and breathe American Government for 6 weeks. Have fun with it.

I took a summer course last year and it wasn't too bad. As said, you have the opportunity to really focus in on that topic. :)

I teach at the local college, including summer. We do not shorten the material for a summer course. We meet twice as much per day therefore twice as much homework. If you are only taking one class you will be fine. Remeber, once you get behind you are in big trouble. It is tough to catch up.

I'm taking 2 classes each summer semester...Intro to Education and Survey of English Literature the first semester...and US History From 1877 and Government during the second semester...never done summer semesters but I've heard they aren't that bad...as long as you aren't trying to do a science class or a crazy-hard class like physics...I've heard to stay away from those during the summer.

BUT as with just about everything, it's personal preference!
