Can someone give me their opinion on either timeshare. We have two boys 9 and 10 and would like a resort that has some sort of activities. Is Summer Bay far from the theme parks? Please tell me the good and bad of both. Thanks :)

I have been to Florida Vacation Villages and I don't remember any amentities other than maybe a pool onsite but it has been six or seven years since I have been there. It is also further away from Disney than is Summer Bay. I would choose Summer Bay as it gets mostly good reviews (and I haven't stayed there yet:thumbsup2 ).

We loved summer bya. My kids had a blast in their interactive pool. They also had a DJ playing music at the main pool some evenings. We didn't do any of the activities for kids but i do remember them having some.

Our 2bdrm villa was very nice and spotless!
The drive to the parks was not bad at all if you take the Sherbeth(spelling?)Rd. shortcut onto disney property.

You can walk over to the publix right next door for any groceries you need.

I've heard they can be a bit pushy with trieing to get you to do their tour but, they asked me at check-in and i siad i would have to ask my husband. They did call to see if we wanted to do it. I said no,and that was the end of it.

hth!

We haved only stayed at Summer Bay so I can only comment on that resort. I found it to be very nice. Staff helpful, unit clean (we had a 2 bedroom), nice pool and lake area. We did not participate, but they did have a children's program with age specified activities.

Amanda is correct...The ride is not bad and the shortcut helps. We always went to the park for rope drop in the AM and I don't think it took us anymore than 15 mins to get to any parking lot, except for AK which was even less time since that is where the shortcut from 192 dumps you onto WDW property.

We stayed there for two weeks a few years back and liked it so well I am going back this summer again for two weeks, but staying in one of the "Houses" :cheer2:  :cheer2:  .

We loved Summer Bay. The previous poster was right- it only takes about 15 minutes with the Sherberth Rd shortcut. We stayed in a 2 bedroom. It was very clean. Our kids were too young for the programs but they looked fun. We loved the pool and playground. They tried to get us to do the tour also. We said maybe and did not call back so they called us at 6:30 a.m to see if we were coming. Be up front and tell them you are not interested in the tour so that they do not call you so early or just go on it- free hot breakfast and a ride on a boat- not bad. We are going next week and will be staying in a 3 bedroom 2-story townhouse with its own (small) pool at Windsor Hills. You might research it. It has an amazing pool area with a large tube slide, game room, playground, movie theater, and sundry shop. The price was unbeatable (98/night). Your kids may like the ammenities and it is only 1 mile from Disney. Windsorhillsrent.com

SB has more amenities than VV but I would pick VV because of the location. If you are spending more time in the parks you might want VV. If you will be at the resort more than you probably would pick SB. You can do a search to get more ideas of what the resorts are like.

Are you military? Just asking because theses are both resorts they sometimes offer. We have not been able to get Village at Parkway (we want to try it though), but our friends swear by it. I have never seen anything more than 1 and 2 bedrooms at Summer Bay but Parkway sometimes has 3 bedrooms. It is closer but Summer Bay is not that far. Either one of these will not disappoint.
