Has anyone stayed at the Summer Bay Resort in Kissimee? Any info would be appreciated.

We stayed at the Villas of Summer Bay in July. It was a 2-bedroom/2 bath villa with a kitchen and washer/dryer. Overall it was very nice (especially for the price through Skyauction) but it's a little far down 192.

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I would be happy to answer them.

There are several threads with full details on Summer Bay if you have time to do a search.

Summer Bay has villas, condos, homes, an Inn and a HI express all in one area but I can help you with the condos and villas as well as the overall resort ammenities and location.

I will second crjack on summer bay. Matter of fact he was a huge help for us when we went on our trip in Oct/Nov. We found Summer Bay to be very nice accomodations. We were in a first floor, 2 BR/2 BA villa. One br had a king bed, the other a queen. Everything was in great working order, quite, and we had no complaints. I was surprised to see how easily and quickly we were able to get to the parks. There is a Publix grocery store very close to Summer Bay (however we found it to be more costly than anticipated), but a Wal Mart on down the road (ask for directions).

Some complaints I had read on here before our trips were lots of bug, lots of noise, dirty. I found none of these to be the case in our situation.

If given the opportunity I would definitely return! Hope this helps.

Also do a search and get the easy driving directions to the parks that several have left by going Black Lake Rd. I cant remember them.

It was clean, the grounds are well kept, the pool was nice and activities were fun. Unfortunately, the villa had "palmetto bugs" - roaches. I reported this to the office, and they were very polite - and they did spray twice while I was there - but to no avail... I should have insisted that we be moved. That was my mistake.

There is a Publix in very close promixity as mentioned - and there is also a Super Walmart less than a mile up the road on US 27 I believe (Clermont).

Good luck with your decision and research..

I don't think you will be dissappointed if you chose to stay here. We stayed Nov. '04 and loved it. There are some fun pools, especially if you have little ones. One is a full blown playground - add water. Kind of a children's water park. The condo's are nice also, plenty of room to move around and have some space. Very home away from home feel. :sunny:

i stayed at summer bay through skyauction, it was great, but now i own at orange lake-i am still happy about that-yeah, but i would stay at summer bay again, if needed

I have an opportunity to rent points from someone. I am going Easter Week, 2007 and he said it would cost me $700 for 7 nites, 8 days. Is this a lot. I have no idea.

Normally I would say you can get a little better deal but Easter week? Thats hard to get so maybe not so bad..how big is the unit?

You do know it will be absolutely packed there then? but its doable~

Yes, Easter week is one of the most busy times to visit so a $100 a night isnt really all that high.

Do you know what size unit you get for that amount? Since its for 2007 it's hard to know what other places will be charging come that time. I would think even Cypress Pointe would be that price although it's much closer than Summer Bay.

I don't think you will be disappointed with the accomodations. I would highly recommend you have a rental car though. It does have a shuttle but it is not as close to Disney as other resorts. Not a bad drive, and there is a nice alternative route from 192 that saves time, but we always rent a car when we go.

I am suppose to pick a resort this week with the owner of the points, and he will see which one I picked and then he will call for me to see availability. For now it won't be more than 2 people, 3 at the most, unless I talk my in-laws in going along, but I know that would be a huge mistake-and I don't know why I keep thinking about it, when I know how the outcome will be.

We traded our week in Aruba(our resort is under construction)for a week at Summer Bay.We will be going 4/16-4/23/06. I just spoke w/the front desk about an email we got from RCI indicating construction is ongoing. The exterior work is reportedly copmplete but there will be ongoing interior remodel for a while. They start work as early as 7am but she did say that the occupied units are not near the work area and that it will not affect the amenities like pools. We are still planning to go. We have been on a waiting list for a trade for over a year for Easter week.It is so hard to get one anyplace close to Disney that week!
