OK, even in Disney World, I'm tired after only 4 hours sleep. But up and at 'em. Parks to visit rides to ride!
After a quick breakfast in the lounge we are off on the bus to AK.
While I know there many places we could get to quicker if we had a rental car, we still choose not to rent and use Disney transportation instead. Both my husband and I have long drives every day so it's more pleasant for us to let someone else do the driving. Even if we have to wait a few minutes for the bus. Once we rented a minivan at the airport, drove it to Wilderness Lodge, parked it, never saw it again until the day we checked out.
In the time it took me to say that, here we are at AK. This trip was the first that we really didn't get strollers for our kids. Yes, in our normal lives, even last year, we never would consider putting them in strollers, they're too big. But walking for miles in Florida heat and humidity isn't our normal lives. Anyway, this year we pretty much decided that the kids could do it on their own. And it would be nice not to have to push strollers through crowds. When I say "we decided" that of course means my husband and I. Tyler and Kaleigh were unfortunately the last to know about this decision. Later as they melted in the heat we questioned our wisdom.
Ever try to get a 6 and 7 year old to walk quickly to a ride right after they have discovered they would indeed be WALKING to the ride.
Well we did make it to the Safari after all, and luckily it was really good. We saw lots of animals and they were very active. The best were the giraffes. They were running around playing with each other, Tyler said they looked like they were running in slow motion. Before the safari my husband had said that he wasn't going to take pictures. We already have lots of animal pictures from the safari. But a few minutes into the ride there he was snapping away. Told you it was really good.
After the Safari we grabbed fast passes for Kali and rode Dinosaur. I love Dinosaur. Then we went back and did Kali. My kids love this, they love getting wet and they LOVE watching other people get wet.
We stopped to grab a snack on the way to Lion King. Maybe then I was getting just a little grumpy. Remember the very little sleep I had...Well I've never seen the Lion king show and somehow I believed getting that tub of popcorn was going to prevent me from seeing the show. Sorry family! And thanks for sharing the popcorn with me anyway. Lion King was good, especially with the popcorn we snuck in.
After this lunch seemed like the wisest idea. I had really wanted to go to Tusker House because I had great (and healthy) food there last time. But alas, we were just to darn close to Pizzafari. Like a magnet for my kids. Well after stuffing ourselves silly with Pizza, it was time to go back to the Polynesian, hit the lounge, have cookies and you guessed it....swim.
Chris went to the gym at the GF, I stopped at the desk and tried to get O'hanas but the times were either too early or too late. Well maybe it'll be Cap'n Cook. Back to my chair overlooking the kids in the pool and my frozen beverage. Wait! I have to tell you the best thing that happened on my trip...when I went up to get my Lava Flow...are you ready...the lady asked if I had ID on me!!! Disney Magic! Never mind that when I said I didn't she gave it to me anyway.
At the desk I asked if they had movie listings for DTD. Dore (sp?) (like the fish in Nemo), printed it out and gave it to me and also made reservations for my kids at the Neverland Club. They were anxious to go back, they loved it there last year.
We all cleaned up and went to the lounge. Yippee, skewered beef and chicken. Yum-Yum. Not only did my husband like this waaaay better than sushi night, the man working with Chef Dick remembered that Chris drank Miller Light the night before and gave him one. Disney Magic just follows us around. Chris and I figured we would grab something else to eat at DTD if we were hungry when we got there. Neverland Club will feed the children.
We dropped off the kids at the Neverland Club, got our pager, and went out to catch the bus to DTD. Then our pager buzzed. Right there at the bus stop. Disney magic why hast thou forsaken us? My daughter wasn't feeling well. I decided to let Chris go on to DTD and explore. I took Kaleigh and Tyler stayed at the Club for awhile. After a quick potty stop, (OK, I'm crossing the line now, more information than is necessary) Kaleigh was feeling better and we browsed shops and I bought her a pin. She has a ways to catch up with her brother in the pin department. We picked up Tyler about 8 PM went back to the room and got to bed early. Wow, did I need that.
I remember waking up and Chris was back and he was eating treats. I kept thinking that would be good, but I couldn't wake up enough. I'm pretty sure he gave me a bite of carrot cake in bed. He's a good Husband. That's why we are getting up early and going to EPCOT EE so he can ride Test Track - his favorite ride.
Goodnight - then and now.
