The family just spent a week at the Fort the first one ever. It has to one of the nicest campgrounds that I have been to. I am thinking of going back in the summer but am really concerned about the heat and bugs. I have never been to Florida in the summer I only hear rumors. Can anyone help me out here with a decision? We have a 26 foot travel trailer.

It's not a big deal with the heat and bugs. I'm from NJ, and it's often hotter in NJ than in FL in the summer time........ As for bugs yeah, unless you are coming from Tucson, you will probably have the same amount of bugs as at home. Bring some citronella and just enjoy the trip. Florida has a bad rap when it comes to heat, but it's just that, a bad rap. Plus the campground is shaded, so it's not that bad.

You won't have to worry about bugs Disney is very good about that. It will be hot no doubt about that. I live in FL and camp in our RV during summer months and in the keys during summertime. A good suggestion is to bring some strong fans this will help while sitting outside we also will sometimes put a water mister in front of the fan for a refreshing feeling. Good Luck.

The last few years the summer have been a lot hotter than they have in the past, but it's still bearable. While you're at the Fort, the heat won't be that bad because of the shade, it's more while you're at the parks that you'll have to worry. Just be sure to bring lots of water, and those little portable mini-fans will save you numerous times while in the parks.

Normally it will rain in the afternoon for an hour or so, so it will start to cool off while that builds up. Of course, then you have to deal with the humidity that comes after the rain showers, but all in all, it's not THAT bad. Lots of people make the trip and make return trips and survive...lol

And yea, bugs aren't that big of a problem, just bring some spray and you should be fine.

We just spent the week prior to Easter in the Fort. While the campground was a blast the parks were packed. We got to epcot and all of the fast passes for the entire day were gone for the Test Track. So I realize that Spring Break is the busy season but how is the summer?

Summer ebbs and flows, because people take their vacations spread out over a few months as compared to the more narrow months of Spring Break.

Summer is going to be busy, that's for sure, some days will be more packed than Spring Break (especially the holidays), but on the whole I don't think the summer is as packed as some of the more busy holiday times at Disney.
