Summer 2024 Direct Incentives

As the incentives still look decent I’m revisiting how many points I need.

I’m trying not to over buy points, right now my contract is for 150 at Riviera. We really only want to go every 2-3yrs but 150 wouldn’t get us a week in April every 2yrs in a 1 bedroom, I’d need 351 for the week.

Is it feasible to do a split stay with a lower points chart resort or stay one night cash at Caribbean beach and move to the Riviera?
I'm showing 321 per week for a standard 1BR.

Cutting the week down to 6 nights will save you plenty of points. You could go 7 nights 1 trip and then 6 the next, for example.

Or stay your first night at Caribbean Beach and the next 6 at Riv as you said.

If you're going for 1BRs I don't think you'd have a hard time booking what you want for a split stay. You could book like 3 nights at somewhere like OKW/AKV/SSR to save points or hell you likely will have a good chance of booking even BWV since you're going for 1BRs to conserve points and then switch to RIV for the remainder.

In the future you can consider adding resale points if you start to feel bad about burning direct points on these resorts you could've booked with resale SSR lol.
Thanks for the response!

Yes I like the 6 nights one year and 7 the other year idea to share the points across a few years, good idea! I think I’m gong to stick with my 150 direct for now and see what happens with the new poly tower and maybe add a monorail resort in a few years….

I just got off the phone with my guide and he said I just have to be a cardholder. I don't have to put any of the purchase on the card. Sounds like there is confusion amongst the guides. I'm hoping my guide is right so I can put the costs on my sapphire reserve for the travel-coded points.

To emphasize your point about confusion among the guides, my guide insisted I need to place $500 on the Disney Visa in order to receive that $1000 promotion this cycle. So, I applied for a new Disney Premier Visa, which has a $49 annual fee. I didn't bother to notice there is a Disney Visa option with $0 annual fee. 😑

I think you need to get 10 posts before you can modify your signature. Assuming you've gotten there, you click on your account profile and there will be a signature section. That gives you a window that looks a lot like the post window. I then went out to an existing thread that had different signatures posted for people to copy. I got mine from this post: https://www.disboards.com/posts/63764147/ (there are others in that thread). In that post, I right-clicked on my resort and selected 'Copy Image Link'. I then posted that link into my signature and clicked 'Save'. It really was fairly easy, but only because someone else (NeutralNovice) went to the trouble of loading pictures for each of the resorts.
thank you

You get 2 percent back on DVC with the Premier instead of 1 percent back on the free card so depending on how much you plan to put on it, the premier may pay for itself the first year. That's what I'm doing for the 6 months zero interest then I'm downgrading the card to the free version.

Does anyone know how hard it is to cancel these cards? I don’t like having cards on hand I’ll never use.

Well, if you've already pulled the trigger on the Premier Visa, I'd put at least $1,000 on it to get the $300 signup bonus. You could also try calling Chase and asking them to downgrade to the free version since you didn't realize it existed. There is still a $150 signup bonus on that version (for spending $500).

I'm just gonna live with it - I'm buying 6 Incredi-passes next week so hopefully that qualifies for the $300 statement credit. If not, maybe Disney will offer me a free Chase Visa cookie the next time I stop by a DVC desk - a boy can dream!

Just dropped an e-mail to my Guide to see how we would go about getting the extra $1,000, if it is even possible at this point for Disney Visa credit. I signed on April 4th, last escrow payment was today, so still within 90 days and the contract has not officially "closed" as of yet (but it probably will tomorrow or this week). Figured it was worth a shot - also not going to lose sleep over the $1,000 if not possible - not end of the world. Kudos to this thread though - would've never known about the extra $1,000 any other way. :) Keep ya'll posted.

Heard back from my guide Tony - he has reached out to the main office to try to apply the $1,000 before they officially close my contract...so there is hope...glad I asked :)
