Looking at booking our first cruise for this coming July or August. I've not paid attention to pricing upon date release. I'm curious as to how much the cruises have gone up for that time frame from booking earlier? Dates aren't out for summer of 2018 yet, but considering price hikes each year, I'm assuming if I wait and book asap for the following summer prices likely won't be cheaper than booking for this year? I hate to think I've waited so long that I'm paying a significant amount more and could save money by waiting. For those of you who watch pricing, I would love opinions.

For an example of what I'm looking at paying now. Family of 4, 4 night cruise on the Dream July 31 - OV Cat 8D will be $5200 / Verandah Cat 5C -$5375.

Seems so high for 4 nights, but I know DCL is just expensive, but wondering how this compares to if I would have booked sooner?

I doubt that next year will be cheaper, but only time will tell. I have watched DCL pricing and have noticed a change in the way overall DCL prices tend to rise. They used to start moderately-high, then increase steadily over the next year and a half. In the last year, there has been more of a tendency for them to start out high, stay at or near that plateau for the first several months, and then inch higher during the last several months. So opening day pricing is less of a deal than it used to be. This seems to be more true for the standard Caribbean cruises than for Alaska & Europe, & other unusual cruises, though.

I agree with the previous poster... it seems like back in the day, maybe a few years ago, that opening day prices were the cheapest but now it seems like prices stay the same as they are on opening day and inch up higher about a few months out from sailing

I think you could have paid less had you booked sooner. DCL cruises, especially during the summer and the holidays, are in high demand.

You can go to cruisefish.net and see the steps the pricing has gone through.

FYI, your 8D has only increased $20 per person, so I would assume the lowest price you're going to see is right now.

Thank you! I had no clue this info was out there! Makes me feel better!

In my opinion the best place to look at historic fares is the www.touringplans.com fare tracker:

https://touringplans.com/disney-cruise-line/tools/fare-tracker

The cruise you mentioned above can be found here: https://touringplans.com/disney-cruise-line/tools/fare-tracker?utf8=✓&cruise=1253&roomcat=07A&og=7

It appears that it has only gone up very little (it is the blue line, the red line is the comparable 2016 cruise to help you anticipate when historical price jumps happened).

Thanks for this info! I knew there had to be info, I just didn't know where!:)
