My twin ds9 want to ride this, one with each parent, but my ds4 is too short. Is there a way to do it so we're not there for 40 minutes (20 each kid)? Like all go through the design part but take turns waiting with ds4 at the end of the ride? Thank you!

Rider swap is all about not having to wait through the standby line twice.
(See THIS LINK for more details.)

Talk to the ride CM's about what you'd like to do.
Maybe they can accommodate your request.

Just know that since you 4 yr. old is too short, he won't be permitted to enter
the attraction line at all.

Can't hurt to ask but due to the nature of the ride - 2 person pods and very limited capacity - I would think it would be a no.

Perhaps the two nine year olds and one parent can design the pod experience and the two kids ride it, while the parent waits. The other parent and the four year old do one of the other activities in the building in the meantime.

Well, we'd only ride 2 at a time, no repeats. One twin and me, the other twin and dh.

That's my only other option, except ds9a wants to ride with me and ds9b wants to ride with my husband. If ds4 is too short, it doesn't seem fair that the parents are going to completely miss the experience with the older children unless we stand in line twice.

I'm assuming no one has actually asked the CM.... I was hoping to hear from someone who has done it (or was turned away).

I seem to be the only one in our family of four who likes this attraction I can't get my kids to stand in any kind of a line for it. So, I've only done it once with one of my children in all the trips I've had. Sorry that I can't relate any experience with a swap.

I'm not understanding why you wouldn't use the Rider Swap.
That's what it's for.

This is exactly what the rider swap is for. Before anyone gets in line...go to the cm at the entrance with your too short child and ask for a rider swap pass. You or your dh will then go with one twin through the normal line while the rest of you wait for their return. When they come back, the other parent and twin take the rider swap pass and get to enter through the fastpass line

My youngest was turned away at the start of the line last summer. We knew he wouldn't be able to ride but he wanted to go through the line and help big brother build his coaster. It was a no-go per the CM. Being only 46 inches he wasn't even permitted in the line. We did get a rider swap pass for later use...

We have used rider swap for this ride. While one parent is in line with one child, I have just taken my daughter and gone to another area of the pavilion. When they were done we switched off. Another idea is to just go to get a snack or something at that time. It was really not that bad, and seem to move very quickly.

I must be confused. I thought rider swap sent the second group through a fast pass line, and I don't think this ride has a Fastpass. So I'm confused how the rider swap will save us time. I apologize for my confusion.

When we returned to use our rider swap, we were directed to the CM at the ride exit and permitted to enter there with very little waiting.

I have used rider swap at this and several other rides without fast pass over many trips. As a previous poster said just explain that you will need to do a rider swap to the castmember at the entrance of the ride line. He or she will explain the procedure to you.

THANK YOU! That's exactly what I needed to know. I think this is the only ride we'll need RW on as ds4 is 44", and we're not doing some coasters.

I had a question about this. Sum of All Thrills is not listed on the list of rides that are child swap eligible on the Disney website. But you didn't have any problem?
