Hi all,

I did a search, but wasn't able to find specific answers to my questions, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

I am interested in checking out Sum of all Thrills during our Feb trip to WDW. Here are my questions:

1) Is there a height requirement?
2) How does it work? I know you design a roller coaster and then enter a simulator - how long does this process take?
3) Can just one person go at a time? Is it something where my daughters could co-design a ride and then go together?
4) How bad are the lines? My thought was that we would get to Epcot at RD (our usual routine), hit Soarin', and then head to Sum of All Thrills, which we have never done.
5) If my DD7 doesn't like roller coasters, but is ok with simulators (Star Tours, Soarin', etc...) will she like this or not?

TIA!!!

:thumbsup2

1 - 48"
2 - You can design a roller coaster, a bobsled track or the flight path for a jet. You use a ruler and knob on an interactive desk screen. You use the ruler to create height and the knob to create speed. It takes about 10 minutes from the time you enter the briefing room to being through the design stage.
3 - One person can go or both. If they rode together they would co-design the ride.
4 - The earlier the better. Right now it has a wait time of 35 minutes.
5 - Depending on the design, she may or may not like it. You are able to go upside down if you design it that way.

ETA - here is a video that shows some of the design process.

Thank you!

I hadn't thought to look on YouTube, but that was great. I think my DD7 will like it, and if my nephew is with us, I bet he will love it.

We will definitely have to give it a try. I will check the wait times over the next few weeks - but are the waits pretty steady all day?

If you go to Sum right after Soarin, you shouldn't have a wait longer than 20 minutes . We did this two days in a row on our last trip (grandsons, both age 9, said Sum is their favorite WDW attraction now), and in fact they did Sum twice in a row each of the two days.

There wasn't much of a line until well after 10:00. I was told that lines can get pretty long in the late morning, but often die down in mid or late afternoon.

Can you do child swap for Sum of All Fears? My next trip, we have some kids who are too short and others who are tall enough.

Also, I see that two people can ride together -- is that the max? Or can more than 2 ride in one vehicle?

You also might want to know that if anyone is at all claustrophobic this might not be the ride for you. You have to pull the top part of the ride down very close to your face and there isn't much room to move. My husband had to get out before it started - he couldn't stand to be enclosed like that.

Two is the max per vehicle.

There is no FP line, so I'm not quite sure how child swap would work. Maybe the CM will let the second parent in through the chain which forms the entire winding length of the Standby line.

I get motion sick so I was unable to ride with my second child. 2 years ago, DH had to go thru line with child 1 then re-enter line with child 2. There wasn't child swap per se. This was early in the day so the line was not too long to keep us from waiting a second time. Last year, my oldest was big enough to ride by herself. Not sure if they have an official child swap now or not.
