Suite Perks

In our experience (twice) yes - food was about it. The daily snacks etc. other stuff like excursions are readily available at the shore excursion desk. I do think that the concierge's I met really weren't sure what was expected of them. I also don't think they had the latitude to overrun any of the shore excursions (those billed as 'full') or dining times etc. Very nice people, but still trying to find there place in the realm of things.

^^^ Food - definitely as you are able to order from the dinner menu of the three rotational restaurants and have it delivered to your room (if you are so inclined)

We were spoiled by one conceirge team. They called ahead for us to AKL and put in room requests, moved reservations around for us and went above and beyond what we expected. The last time, they did do alot for us, but not as much. It really depends on the team.

I keep checking the site to see if there are still cat 3 available.

We upgraded to a HA cat 3 room at port. We were told they hold those until the day of the cruise unless someone that actually needs one has reserved it already, so those may not show up online at all.

I enjoyed the early boarding and the lounge where we met with our concierge staff. We booked all our shore excursions, spa trips and reconfirmed other plans we had made.

Our family was having a party in the Walt suite, so they help coordinate the party. The staff also made sure we had the drinks we wanted, extra toiletries (without asking), movies and popcorn and in general, were always in touch to make sure we had a fabulous experience.

Our staff told us that the extra tips for the concierge staff are pooled and shared by all.

I would do it again if I have the GK's and other family but not for just the two of us as we spend very little time in our room. A verandah works just fine for the two of us.

Just my thoughts...:surfweb:

Does anyone know if you get the same service if you upgrade at the port? I have a cat 4 right now but plan on upgrading if there is one available. I didn't know if they did the same thing. I also wondered if anyone celebrated birthdays at a cat 3 and if they do anything different being a cat 3 and above. I want my daughter get as much attention as possible. She is a drama queen and adores attention (no she not a diva at home! LOL I just want this to be the best birthday ever). Anyway, I was just courious.

We upgraded at the port to a Cat 3 and it was a great decision.

My daughter had a birthday while on board and they made a special birthday cake decorated with her name on it. I don't think they charged extra for this. She got the cake at dinner on her birthday night and the staff sang Happy Birthday.

Also, one thing we enjoyed was the concierge reception. Ours was when we were leaving St. Thomas. They had great food and Stitch came by for pictures.

I agree. Ours was as we were leaving Castaway Cay and Sailor Goofy stopped by. This was our favorite character interaction on the cruise.

OOohhhh excellent! On our current reservations, they have it noted that it is her birthday. I will also remind them if we get an upgrade. I am so excited!! :yay::woohoo::jumping1: :goodvibes:

I think you were misinformed. When I booked my Cat 3 for my upcoming 8/18 med cruise, in Nov 08, they told me the only available cabin was HA and they gave it to me. They book all the suites up front. - I've even asked our concierge if any were available and she said all suites were booked and paid for.

After lunch, we went to the concierge welcome reception and got the kids registered for the clubs. The concierge asked if we were celebrating anything and she made all the arrangements.

Thanks for the info! :goodvibes

Does anyone in a cat 3 ask to trade out the Sprites/Cokes for Diet Cokes only (for example?). We never drink reg soda, just diets, but i've never had the nerve to ask.

We exchanged for all Diet Cokes and it wasn't a problem at all!

Cat. 1 and 2 Only..... and you may have to ask for the Palo menu, we didn't have one upon boarding last time we were in the Roy...

Do you have to pay for the food if ordering from Palo? We'll be on the Roy later this year...

Thanks. Katherine

We were in the Walt suite on our last cruise and did not pay the $15 per person surcharge, when we ordered from Palo for our room. We were also able to order for our DS , who is not 18 and therefore could not go into Palo.

I was under the impression that only the royal suites could order Palo food for the room ... the other suites can order everything but. That is what we were told when we stayed in the Roy on the Wonder.

Categories 1 and 2 can order from Palo.
