Our son will be almost 5 when we go to WDW this year. He always uses one of our suitcases, but I thought it would be nice for him to have his very own this year. So, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of suitcases that have worked well for your child/children. If you could tell me the brand, price, style/model and where you bought it that would be great. Thanks so much.

I purchased a child size luggage set from Disney Store online this was a few years back and it was around $30. It included a small rolling suitcase which my son uses all the time.

Ebags has a nice variety of childrens luggage at all price points. You should be able to find something that will meet yuour needs on that site. My DD8 used my Vera Bradley weekender tote to care her things in and loves the fact that it is hers only.

Or cram it all in with yours or a duffle bag and when you get to disney let him pick out a carry on bag for all his stuff :)

DDs have carry on size suitcases. My dd was able to pull this my herself when she was 5 even while she was wearing her backpack. They just have the ones from target, not terribly expensive because we know in a couple of years we will replace them with full size suitcases. I was able to pack everything they neede for a nine day trip in them last March.

I just bought my kids a Disney rolling suitcase. I bought them at Colorado Bag N Baggage but you can also look online at heysusa.com. The suitcases are $70 each. Lately, the Colorado Bag n baggage has been offering 10% off and free shipping on orders over $100. This suitcase maynot be big enough for all of his clothes though. The wheels also light up when you pull it.

Our DS has a trunki. It is a hard sided carry-on suitcase with horns to hold as he rides it down the airport. It actually has a leash like thing to pull him along as he rides. I know, sounds crazy, but it is very cute & lots of fun if you get stuck in an airport. Not tons of room but enough for him. Just google trunki & you should be able to find it. They come in several different styles. Got our's on ebay.

Our 5 yo DS has a Lego Air rolling duffel bag from Amazon.com and he loves it! He's Lego obsessed so that was a big selling point, but the bag is actually really cool, and its very helpful that he can pull it himself. I think it was about $70?

I don't know...it might worth it to cram everything in your suitcase again if they're going to charge you baggage fees. :)

Although I have never considered the benefits of my kids having their own carryons instead of just their backpacks with their airplane activities....hmm...

We bought 2 small character bags with wheels so they could pull them at WDW. We drive though, so they would be terribly impractical for flying.

my kids just use the two smaller rolling suitcases in our 5 piece set (yeah so unoriginal). Their great aunt just got them black duffel bags with their names on them and I know they will use them this year for our trip (these things somehow hold as much as the suitcases and are smaller)

Our sons have Trunki's as well... they LOVE them... and their older neice who is 5 also has one and loves her as well. They are ideal! Certainly not great for their entire suitcase for the trip, but perfect to use for their treasures and toys for carry on. Keep in mind, that this may be a non issue if airline restrictions are still in place where there are no carry on's allowed!

My DD got the LL Bean adventure rolling duffel in aloha pink for her 3rd b-day. It was about double the size of her and she loves it! :cutie:

She has a matching sold pink duffel as a carry-on and I got her the pink toiletry bag (before they discontinued it in pink)

I bought my son his own roller bag when he turned 5. I have shoulder issues that make it really hard for me to lift a heavy bag overhead and he's obviously too small to lift a heavy bag as well. :thumbsup2 I went with the eBags Mother Lode mini for him. I chose it because it was the lightest 21 inch rolling carry-on that I could find. It's been ideal for him! He can carry an entire vacation's worth of his clothes in it. And it's sturdy and light and fits perfectly in the overhead. It's flown several times now and been on many trips to Grandmas and still looks great. The pop-out handle also lets you only extend it half-way - which is necessary if you're going to have a small child pulling it. It also doesn't have the tipping issues that I've had with other rolling bags when I've tried to have the little one pull them. It's totally configurable, but we usually just use it sort of in a duffel style and just dump everything in there and zip the top closed.

There's a ton of great suitcases out there for kids. I'm sure you kind actually find one at your local wal-mart or target that features a favorite character of your son. If not, then try their website and the disney store site.

I thought about getting a cute suitcase for DS (which were widely available at Walmart) but realized it was impractical for us. We pack one large bag to check. Then we have one, at the limit, carry on, our computer, camera, my purse, stroller (checked at gate), car seat and DS's knapsack as carry on. That is all we can handle as carry on and I would not want to check a kids suitcase, both because of the fees and I would be worried it might not make it in one piece.

Maybe when he is older and we don't have as much junk but still probably not. I would rather the least amount of bags as possible.

We have a set of luggage that we are using for all 5 of us. We did, however, get the girls new backpacks to use as carry-ons. 11 more sleeps until we are in WDW :D
