Suggestions where to stay for 18 yr old DD

Just wondering if anyone can give me input on a good place to stay for 4 high school graduates (very good responsible girls)? They would like to travel in Aug (before going off to college)for 5 -6 nights and will not have a car. I am adding on to BLT today and I am hoping my guide will help me out to get her a place since he has not "helped" me with a ressie yet. I have heard BLT studio is very small but location for them is great. I entertained trying for a 1 bedroom there but as you all know it is double the points.

Any suggestions we are new to dvc just looking for input

you do NOT want to put 4 teens girls in a studio. It is definitely too small. Besides the 1-bedroom comes with 2 bathrooms - which would be very helpfully for them. my opinion

I see your point about 4 in a studio, but I've done it with 4 teen girls and they loved it. kids are kids, they are resilient, it can be done and they'll love it no matter where you put them! they are there and that's awesome enough to them That said, BWV, or BCV gets my vote too.
ESPN club and Beaches and Cream and Big River Grille are great options for older teens to dine and hang out on/near the BW, with DHS and Epcot a walk or boat ride away.

BLT studio is tiny. 3 people okay - but not 4.

especially 3 almost adult girls.

any other studio - yes 4 teens are fine. but not at BLT.
now love BLT but it is just too darn tiny for 4 people - less 2 are under 9.

well since - dis is refusing to allow me to see my own post - (when I would rather edit)

my cousin loved OKW for her graduation present.
my nephew loved VWL for his.
My niece got SSR because she was late in getting back to me - she would rather have had OKW.

think they would have been happy at any of the places. first time w/o parents....

I recently took my DD and 6 GFs for a weekend at WDW for her 16th birthday. While I have BLT envy, I think BW or BC would be better choices. Walking distance to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios and they can stroll around the Boardwalk. As to the studio vs one bedroom, while the one bedroom would be nice, if you don’t want to spend the points, they will gladly “suffer” with a studio. On our trip, there were four girls sharing one bathroom and three sharing another. Of course it took them forever to get ready to go out but even if there were 7 bathrooms I think it would take them forever.

What a great trip for them.

I would say OKW or SSR. Although I have not stayed at either (Yet!) I would think that 18 year old girls would like to go out at night, so the proximity to DTD would be great.

NEVERMIND ... I think I found my answer on another thread: 18 is good!

Just wondering: Is there a minimum age for room occupants? Are the girls, at 18, allowed to occupy the room w/out having someone over 23 or 25 or (some magic number) in the room? (I don't intend this question in a controversial manner. I've heard that some timeshare require at least one person be over 25 ... and don't know DVC's policy on this topic.)

I would say okw studio because it is larger and has two queen bed. Also is close to DTD which is free entertainment unlike the parks. Low points too.

Is OKW walking distance to DTD? I am staying there in May with 2 girlfriends but I want to get her ressie booked soon.

I agree that they will be grateful for wherever they stay! I talked to my guide today and he said the studios at BLT were the same size as all other resorts except OKW and SSR. After reading the posts I have to wonder. I am going to get together with the girls and parents this weekend but I think I have narrowed it down, thanks to the helpful input. I was going to do a 1 bedroom but my oldest daughter in college is talking spring break next year so I am not going to set the "trend" of them getting used to 1 bedrooms!
I will save the points for larger accomadations for when I go! lol Thanks again

I suggest BW or BC (BC is my favorite). There is much to do and if they stay at BC the pool is awesome. Because of the Epcot and BW location it will be easy for them to stay together or ramble off in pairs and still be close to one another. I would not worry about having two beds or one bed and one sofa bed. It seems when you put teen girls together (even at age 18), they will all try to pile into the same bed.

as a 21st birthday/college grad pressent, i gave a friend a vac at the BWV's (studio, BW view).
she tells me literally every time we talk how that was the best present she has ever received (btw, she wound up buying into DVC at AKV - smart girl - but still tries to book stays at the BWVs)
my 25yo daughter greatly prefers BWVs also (likewise, my 21yo son, and many, many relatives).
especially at that age, and without a car, there is still sooooooo much to do at the BWVs. they obviously can just walk to/fro EPCOT or DHS on a whim (great if 1 or 2 get cranky), play ping-pong and/or video games/rent DVDs -free- at community hall, watch the evening entertainment on the BW, play arcade and/or carny games, buy an ice cream cone and wander the grounds, read a book in the rocking chairs off the lobby, shop, play tennis, rent a surrey or regular bike, hang out in the bellevue lounge (although they can't drink alcohol, there are board games and soft drinks available), swim in luna park or choose from 2 beautiful quiet pools. just grabbing a yuumy pastry from the BW bakery for b'fast is a treat . they can also walk over to the BC to see a movie on the beach, and/or rent a watermouse.
the BCVs are beautiful, but be aware it is very busy and noisy with little ones. the BWVs on the other hand, are quieter inside, with a lot of bustle and excitement at your fingertips - but not in your face

Okay I am convinced, I am going to try for BWV 1st then BCV if I cannot get either of them then OKW. I hope my guide can work his magic since I have not asked for anything yet and bought 2 contracts through him. My daughter looked all of them up and was wowed by all the resorts but to my surprise she said she would like to stay somewhere where we can get to DTD easily, I thought she would want BLT or VWL because of the location to MK. All these posts are making me second guess my purchase at BLT, I love staying at resorts were we can stroll around and just enjoy our surroundings. Oh well for now I am going to have fun just trying them all out, one by one!

My favorite resort is OKW but my son's is BWV. I can see why my teenage son and his friends love the Boardwalk and the accessability to Epcot and DHS. THe Boardwalk is really beautiful at night and you can pop over by boat or even walk to the other hotels like the Dolphin and the Swan for dinner.

Of course I love taking the boat from OKW to DTD, ant the rooms/studios are larger. I think no matter which you end up getting will make for a fabulous time for the 4 of them.

your guide does not know what he is talking about.

BLT studios are much smaller than the other ones.

OKW is the biggest then I think standard room at AKV.

I am coming to the conclusion that my guide does not know what he is talking about at ALL. He has not given us very good advice at all. We bought 2 contracts through him in Feb and our goal was to do 1 week in London next June. With 2009 points this would have been possible but he made it seem like there were a lot of options in London, upon call MS I was told there was only 1 option, we would have to pay 95.00 RCI fee (which I knew), they would take 349 points from our account and put us on a waitlist and we would have to wait and see. Waitlist for London in June is too risky for me. I need to worry about flights, place to stay and coordinate everything for 7 people! He also sold us VGC (good deal lower maintance fees) which we may go there once every 5 years since we live on the east coast and Fla is only a 2.5 hour flight! Glad I did not buy into SSR through him (we really want THV) since coming home and doing research we bought the same contract resale for 4100.00 less. When I contacted him about my daughters ressie and needed his help once those 2009 points (resale points) were in my account he said "are you sure they are really there, we have had some major nightmares happen with resale" Well the closing agent reassured me that once the contract goes to dvc for ROFR the account is frozen until sold so sellers cannot use the points in the mean time. She also suggested for my piece of mind to have TSS pull an account activity report prior to closing which we did and everything was fine! I have a hard time getting a hold of him also. Anyway that is why I rely on this forum and have learned a ton!

If you could get BCV I would pick that. Our teens LUV that resort. The pool is a HUGE plus plus they can walk around the boardwalk and will be very close to EC and not too far from HS.
