I'm wondering how I'm supposed to go about finding a roommate? Do they just pair you up when you check in? I'm very worried about that, because I don't want to end up stuck with someone who hates dogs and then I've got to worry about my dog's safety if I need to leave her in the apartment for something. I have to worry about my whole apartment liking or not liking dogs, since if I end up with a bunch of people who are anti-dog, then they might not leave Nalla or her things alone.
It's possible I'm being paranoid. But how does finding a roommate who won't hate me work?

You either get a roomie randomly at check-in, can get a roomie randomly through the roomie notification system, or you can add a roomie if you have someone in mind. That's all you can really do, unfortunately. Besides the one roomie, the others are all done randomly at check-in.

are you talking about Disney's housing? :confused3

I would start networking now with people here and on facebook. Find people who have your check-in date and start asking if they like dogs. Once you find someone - get their applicant number and submit it on the roommate notification - or the two of you can just go through the line together and indicate that you'd like to live together. If you want a one bedroom then that's all you need to.

If you want a multi-bedroom then it gets more complicated - you may be able to find some people and try to go with them through the line and indicate that you have a service dog and that these people wouldn't mind living with a dog - however, sometimes Disney doesn't allow you to pick people in your other rooms so you really have to emphasize your circumstance.

Good Luck!!

Could someone please link me to the Facebook page? I wasn't aware that there was one! :)

I'm glad that your service dog was no problem with Disney! I remember awhile ago when you were worried about it. If you don't mind me asking, have they discussed with you what role you will be doing?

I agree! I hope you find someone who likes dogs! I know I would love to have one with me when i'm down there!!! I'd miss my pets too much! Good Luck!! I really hope for the best!!! :goodvibes

No, haven't had much discussion with Disney. They've told me I'm in the program, but that's all I know so far. I don't know my role, but should know by the end of the week. It'll be interesting to see how it works out. I'm still terrified that when I get down they'll give me a hard time, but there's not much to be done until I get the papers in the mail from Disney.

Good luck!! Any idea what you would like to work?

I'd like to work in Attractions or Merchadise the most, but I'll be okay with whatever role I'm given.

I wouldn't worry too much about your roommates and how they will feel. I can't imagine it really being a problem, as long as they're not allergic, or you're not asking them to help take care of your dog (which I highly doubt). Or if you have a gassy dog. ;) I don't know anything about your disability, and frankly it's none of my business, but I want to point out that if you are in a chair, then you're not moving apartments because there are designated disability apartments. Not to mention, once everyone starts working, you will all be trains passing in the night. You'll rarely see each other.
