We live in Northern Kentucky, right outside of Cincinnati. We also drive (although airfare out of Cincinnati is ridiculous). We take our time, and take two days. So it's about 15 hours total over these two days. Our thinking: In order to get halfway decent airfare, we'd have to drive to Indianapolis or Louisville. That's two hours right there. Plus we have to get to the airport two hours ahead of time. So that's four hours. Assuming a non-stop/on time flight, we're in the air about 2 1/2 hours. Bringing it up to 6 1/2 hours. Upon landing, allow about another hour for baggage claim and car rental if you're staying offsite. And another half hour to get to your hotel. Right now, you are at 8 hours.
For that, we'll take the cost savings of driving. It doesn't save that much time.
