Suggestions for success with ticket problem

Just returned from a Disney trip where we had some complementary passes from a relative, but not enough for the entire trip. Due to misinformation on one of the vouchers, we thought we were short one day for one child but ended up really needing two days. Because we weren't aware of the problem until the last morning, we ended up having to purchase 2 one day hopper child tickets at $149 each, when we would have been better off buying 1 two day hopper for $212. The ticket agent said we could possibly get a spending voucher, but that would require supervisor approval, and the supervisor I spoke with at the park was very unsympathetic....said there was nothing she could do, when it was clear from the conversation I just had with the ticket agent she could have if she wanted to.

I realize we were very fortunate to have the passes we had, and we are thankful. But having to pay an unexpected $149 on our last day was tough, and it wasn't like we were asking for another complementary ticket....I was asking that our cost be reduced from $298 to $212.

Any advise for getting some kind of credit or spending voucher, or am I just out of luck?

You can emails Disney and see what they say... But, honestly, I think you're kind of out of luck. You needed two days, you opted to buy 2 single day passes instead of a single 2 day pass, or adding a second day on to your single day pass.

What misinformation was on the complementary vouchers?

Id give Disney ticketing a ring. Its worth the extra effort. Worse case still ends up being no. Save the paperwork, have it ready. Along with any transaction info on the accounts you used to pay for it.

When we tried to go through the gate, we were told the last voucher was a copy (same numbers) as the already used voucher. It never occurred to me to check the voucher numbers, and the others all worked fine. (The gate agent kept that voucher.)

Because I knew I needed to purchase one ticket to get us all in the park the last day, I stopped and bought that ticket the night before, so we could avoid waiting in the ticket line in the morning. I don't think it was a matter of opting to buy 2 singles....I was being proactive the night before, then didn't really have any alternative that I could think of to get the last child into the park on our last day.

So before the final day no one needed a purchased ticket. It's not an issue where on one day you bought and used a 1 day ticket, then realized on the next day you should have bought a 2 day ticket and it was too late to upgrade. You're saying that had you noticed that you had one less free 1 day ticket than you thought, you would have bought a 2 day ticket for one person instead of having to buy 1 day tickets for two people. I don't see why Disney would compensate for that. It was after the fact by the time you purchased both tickets. How many people got in free for how many days? It seems a little greedy to want a refund for such a small amount when paying for multi day hoppers for the whole party would have been much, much more expensive.

Yes, that's correct, I would have purchased the 2 day ticket. Your certainly welcome to your opinion that I'm being greedy, but I had already purchased an annual pass for myself, and 3 MHP tickets for this trip (I'm a life long once-a-year visitor to Disneyland and this is the first time I've ever had any complementary tickets - it allowed me to make the trip). I'm also not saying that Disney was at fault, and I definitely get the fact that their employee family ticket program saved me money (I can do the math), but I based my budget on having those tickets, and I'm not ashamed of my request. I think if the supervisor had been helping a friend or family member the outcome would have been different.

Thanks for the suggestion - I will give it a try :)

While I don't think Disney is wrong, I also don't think you are wrong to see how you can pursue a credit. You made a simple mistake and may have to live with it but it doesn't hurt to ask and I hope it works out in your favor. Let us know how it turns out.

I completely agree. I don't see how this is being greedy. I hope Disney can help you out.

Reporting back that I talked with a representative at Disney Ticketing on Monday who was nice, but said she couldn't do anything for me. She referred me to Guest Experience Services, and the representative there was also very nice and had me send in copies of my tickets and receipts, but couldn't promise anything. She called back today with an update that she was crediting me the difference I requested. Thanks to those who suggested I follow up! :)
