We are really going to try and eat our way around the world this
October trip. I need some suggestions on items from some of the
countries. No fancy restaurants though. We are trying to keep things simple. I've decided to try the Decadent Chocolate mouse cake from Kringla's bakery in Norway.

Any suggestions for Germany, Italy, Mexico, China, Japan, England & Canada?
I think that is all of them.
I know the food and wine festival will be running, so maybe there
are other counties I should try. All sugestions are welcomed.

you have to do the Beaver Tail! Its only fried dough but it is delicious! Germany is a great place to get a quick lunch with a bratwurst sandwich.

Enjoy!

Does Germany sell pretzels or any light snack. My kids may want a light snack while I'm enjoying the food.

Also, where are the beaver tails at?

Beaver Tails are in Canada.

Anything from the bakeries in Norway and France. Decadent!

I don't know if they still have it, but I remember the Sangria in Mexico being really good.

The Fish and Chips in England, but this might only be at the sit-down restaurant.

Enjoy!

In the Norway bakery, they have something called School bread, which my mother gets and LOVES each trip. They also have pretzels there. Mexico has a little taco stand outside and they sell churros, which are great. Outside the UK pavilion, just before the bridge there is a small fish and chips stand where you could get a little bite. I think it is Canada that has some Icee type drinks that are great too. Good luck--sounds like a great plan!

If it is festival time and you enjoy strolling around the world you might leave more than one day with that as your eating plan. On our trip last November we probably ate dinner twice in 10 days, all other days we had lunch, and then strolled once or twice around in the evening picking up dinner, drinks and treats. There are a ton more countries than usual represented, almost all have 2-3 entree items, 1 or more dessert items and 2 or more drink choices. I've never tried something that wasn't good. If you have kids keep an eye out for the "Kids Sushi" - it is really cute, made with fruit roll ups and rice krispie treats!

I highly recommend the fish and chips outside the restaurant. Much better and cheaper too. ::yes::

I can't wait for F&W Fest. I'll be there with two gals I met on the DIS boards. Can you say FUN????? All with out our husbands or kids. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

In Japan there is a small counter service place (Can't recall the name) that serves Chicken Yakitori (Chicken on skewers with Terriyaki Sauce). They are pretty darn good.

Pretzel bread at Le Cellier
Fish and chips in England (there is a stand just outside)
Pastries in France
Eggrolls in China
and those wonderful layered Margaritas in Mexico (I think its Kiwi, Mango, Strawberry and regular)

I can't imagine a Disney trip without those!

My personal F&W favorites (not in any particular order)

New Zealand - lamb chops (no mango chutney though since I'm deathly allergic)
Mexico - watermelon water
Ireland - Corned Beef and Cabbage with Colcannon; Bunratty Meade Honey Wine
New Zealand - lamb chops
Greece - Honey Baklava, Souvlaki with Tzatziki Sauce
Poland - Stuffed Cabbage Roll
New Zealand - lamb chops
Morocco - Vegetable Couscous
Russia & Eastern Europe - Beef Stroganoff with Buttered Noodles
Canada - Inniskillin Pearl Ice Wine
New Zealand - lamb chops (see a pattern developing here ??? ;-)

I loved the Marvellous at the bakery in France. It's a chocolate mousse tart with dark chocolate inside and a strawberry on top. Enough for 2-3 people to share.

There are so many good suggestions. I'm going to note the "must try items".
Has France sold that cheese soup at a stand outside in the past. I would really love to try it.
Our plan is to spend quality time at each country sampleing the food and drinks. I'm really going to love this. I think this is going to be an anual event for me.

Its so much fun to eat your way around the world!

Germany- a pretzel and for the adults some real german beer

Italy- Gelato or Italian ices(lemon mmmm)

Mexico- Id just have a fiesta margarita but they have a stand where you can get tacos and other fast food options

China-An eggroll

Japan-kaki Gori Ices (sort of like a yummy snow cone)

England-fish and chips

Canada-beaver tail (they are so sweet and creamy)

France-the fruit and cheese platter

I have also drank myself around the world, (not in 1 day)if you want to do that make sure you try the wine samplers at France and Italy a frozen margarita from mexico and assorted beeers from all the rest!

We enjoyed eating around the world very much! All the suggestions are great and it makes it fun for kids too. Don't forget to take your picture around the world too-makes for some great memories! We also shared many of the foods instead of buying seperately-saved $$.

The Marvellous (sp?) chocolate mousse tart dessert sounds delicious to this chocoholic!! It is now on the "list" (the very long list of foods I "must" try!).

Could someone please tell this Newbie what is a sweet pretzel (Norway)? I have read raves about them; people say it is a must-have...

I planning to go to this event hungry. My plan of buying 1 thing from each country may not do. In some countries we will have to sample a few things. I don't know what the sweet prezets are, but they sound so good, along with the chocolate tart & chocolate cake. This is heaven for a chocolate lover.

Cheddar Cheese Spup is sold in Canada, not France. Some years they sell it outside during the F&WF, other years they do not I think the all the additional countries during festival time you'll find lots of things to try. Have fun. It's a great time.

Boy oh boy you guys are making me hungry.

Only a couple more days and than I can enjoy all the food you have been talking about.

Love these boards.,,

For DH and I, the most important part of enjoying eating around the world is making sure the kids are stocked up with McDonalds chicken nuggets and fries at the Refreshment Port on the way to Canada from Future World. Parents of picky eaters take note! They only sell nuggets, fries, McFlurries and drinks (not burgers). Once we've accomplished that important task the adults enjoy:

Canada - beaver tails (our kids love these too) and Cheddar Cheese soup

UK - fish and chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop

France - just about everything in the Boulangerie

Morocco - Shawarma sandwiches and baklava

Japan - Kaki Gori shaved ice treats (also a hit with the kids)

Norway - all the bakery/sandwich items we've tried have been good.

Although the cheddar cheese soup at Canada is generally only available during the Food & Wine Festival, everything else should be available year round. (Beaver Tails are only available on a somewhat random basis for some reason).

Have a great time!
