DS loves to read and will soon exhaust what we have on hand. Need suggestions. He has completed all the Star Wars series, all the Harry Potter, the classics like Moby Dick, Gullivars Travels, etc. and is currently close to finishing book II out of IV of the Kingdom Keepers series. He's read lots of various stuff in between. We do have the Lord of the Rings books, he tried those once but think at the time he was a little to young to stick with those.....maybe he should try those again.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Has he read the Hunger Games? I know kids his age who have enjoyed the series a lot, and I really enjoyed it, too.

Books by Rick Riordan. He has a couple of series out.

The alchemyst : the secrets of the immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott

I would have him look into the Vince Flynn books too.

There is also the City of Ember books by DuPrau and I don't know if you would have a religious objection but we really liked the "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Pullman.

Can you tell we really like YA fiction in my family?

another vote for the percy jackson series by rick riordan. my DD13 just finished it a couple weeks ago, and loved them all!

These are books that DS16 has been reading for years. Some since he was 13, others more recently. I just know that these books are floating between him and DD13 for their reading pleasure.

VAMPIRATES by Justin Somper

The Last Apprentice by Joseph Delaney

Rangers Apprentice by John Flanagan

Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris D'Lacey

Dragon Heir, Wizard Heir, Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima (she has another series, but I can't think of their titles.)

Stonehart Trilogy by Charlie Fletcher

Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

I know there are a couple others series that he has tried a book, but these are the ones that are my list of what he is reading and what the next book # is in the series that he needs.

Thanks for all the great suggestions!!!!! Starting a list for books we shall go in search of.

Some mentioned here I know he's read, such as the Rangers Apprentice - I think there were actually 3 books in that series and he has them.

I agree with anything by Riordan. My son loves his books.

Also, James Patterson has a couple teen series out. One is called Daniel X(or something like it) and the other is a Witch/Warlock series about a brother and sister who discover they have magical powers and are hunted down. They're for pre-teen and teens. I would just look up Patterson on Barnes & Noble because they'll categorize his books by age. Go to teen and you'll find them.

My son also likes the Vampire Diaries series-then again he may one of the few teen males that does. So that's a maybe.

The Pendragon series was a hit with my oldest at that age. The Troll series by Nancy Farmer is also good - first book is Sea of Trolls.

He might like The Maze Runner Trilogy.

Hatchet and anything by Gary Paulson (Paulsen?)
The Giver by Lois Lowrey
Any Carl Hiassen (ie: Flush)

I completely forgot about Patterson

He also has the Maximum Ride series that we really liked. It is about genetically mutated children that have wings.
