DH says he'd like some privacy on our next WDW trip. We don't want to spend more than we have to but on-site is a must. Which hotels have a mini-suite or another option with a separate bedroom? What type of rates should we expect for the 3rd week in Dec.?

The Dolphin offers a jr. suite which holds 6 people. If you have an AP you can receive 50% most of the year. Additionally, the Entertainment rate (back of DC card) offers this deal. The rate with 50% this year was $292.50.

I know the Wilderness Lodge also has a Jr. suite, there is an active thread on those rooms on the DIS right now.

Good luck!

The least expensive way to go would probably be a 1-bedroom villa at one of the DVC resorts.

I would say a 1 br or 2 br villa at a dvc resort might do you. I would suggest going to the DVC board and the dvc rent board. With some research you should be able to rent a ressie/points from a member for a dvc resort. They are very helpful over there.

Since price is a consideration, why not do 2 rooms (ask for connecting) at one of the All Star resorts. If your children are small, Disney may guarantee the connecting request.

Another option is a cabin at Ft. Wilderness.

I agree with Carol. I have done my own research on this subject and found two connecting to be the cheapest and best solution. The suites are very expensive and most don't provide four queen beds. We have two teens and the two bathrooms are a big plus. We have already reserved two connecting rooms for our trip in May, just waiting for the discount codes to come out. Good Luck!

If you are talking about Dec 2003, renting points might be an option. But you are a bit late to be considering that. That's a busy time at DVC resorts and they usually get booked up right away at the 11 month mark or 7 month mark at the latest.

You said you already have your 2 rooms reserved, just waiting for the discount codes to come out. Can you reserve your rooms, and then call with the discount code to have that applied and your room rate adjusted??

Actually, we have only one room reserved at ASMusic. We have a great rate. DH refuses to stay off-site & I don't really want to either. It does appeat that two value rooms are the best bargain. We've stayed at Sports & Movies. So Music will be a new expericence. DSs will love those gigantic cowboy boots. NOw I'm trying to figure out the best ticket option for our family.

lorileer,

Yes, you can do that as long as the rooms at your reserved Resort are still available when you call for that specific code. I have done this before and if worked out great. I kept the same reservation, just the total changed....a lot!

I agree with getting two rooms, the extra bathrooms are great, the privacy between the rooms good. And nice to have two entrances to rooms, which I'm not sure if a suite has. That way if someone needed to make a quick trip out for something, paper, drinks or car you would not disturb the other room. Two tv's nice if you have kids. We have stayed at POR, CBR and ASsp this way and it was really nice. Never had a problem with connecting room request. With the codes that have been posted recently you can maybe spend as little as 200-220/night for both rooms. Not bad.:D

My sister has two boys also and they love to stay at the Fort Wilderness cabins. They love the extra room and also having the kitchen for quick bites on the run. there is also lots to do at the campground. We however like the AS resorts better. If it was me I would go for two rooms at the ASMo resort. I am not sure when the rates change from value to peak for Christmas but if it's still in value, you can often get a great deal at AS resorts. Sometimes you can get a better deal at sports or music than at movies. Have a blast .

Since we're taking our two adult sons on our next trip, we HAVE to get two rooms. Our DSs haven't shared a bed since they were 10 & 12!
