Hi... :wave2: I'm new here and hoping to gain the benefit of so many experienced Disney campers.

Our family (Me, DH, DS 7, DS 4.5 and DD 4.5) is taking our first WDW vacation March 9th through the 17th, 2007. We will be staying in our motorhome at Fort Wilderness and have reserved a golf cart for our stay.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has been to Fort Wilderness during a corresponding week another year. What was the weather really like? Historical data is not very helpful; average temp of about 74. Hmmm is this an average day temp? Are evenings much cooler? Any chance of having 80 degree days and needing shorts every day? Any chance of having 50 degree nights and the kids needing sweats for the campfire program? Any chance it will be warm enough for us to enjoy one of the water parks?

Just one of my many questions.... any info, hints or suggestions about planning our trip would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey, I am planning on being there with my family at the same time!! It will be me, my dh, my ds 17, dd 13, and dd 10. :cool1:
We have not been to FW so I have no info, but hope we both get our plans finalized and have a wonderful March at FW!!! :cloud9:

March in Orlando can be anything. If a cold front comes down it can be in the 40s or it can be in the 80s. You are camping so you must be prepared.

We were at FW during this same week in 06. The weather was perfect, 80's, sunshine, and shorts every day. We went a week earlier in 05 and it was a bit cooler, and not as good for swimming. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks TnCamper! that was just the kind of info I was looking for. I certainly understand that it is no guarentee of the kind weather we will have, just hoping to get an idea of what people have found in recent years.

You really need to plan for anything weatherwise.

Keep an eye on the weather reports and take advantage of the warmer days to visit the water parks and/or spend by the pool. Use the cooler and/or rainy days to visit a park.

The one thing I will say about going that early in the year, is that darkness comes early. It is still before Daylight Savings Time and it will get dark (really black) early. For us, we just felt like we wanted to go to bed early!

They have very low lighting at the campground (not a bad thing - who wants lights shining in their eyes when they are trying to sleep), so you may want to have some lights on at your spot if you are going to be out late.

We have started to bring a string of white Christmas lights to put on the bushes at our spot - then we hook it up to a light-sensitive timer/or a regular timer.

Have fun but pack for both kinds of weather (take hat and gloves ... not kidding).

Okay... the hat and gloves tip was a bit of a surprise... thanks. We will be leaving from Maryland where it will still be "snow" weather that time of year so I'll have those things handy but would not have thought to bring them.

While I've never gone in March, I've gone in late Feb and we camped too. We brought the entire range of clothes - winter stuff from our trip down (we live in PA) to summer stuff and believe it or not, we wore it all. Definately bring sweats and sweatshirts. Shorts, plenty of t-shirts. Think layering. At night it gets cool but we slept in sleeping bags and wore socks.

My best advice is what everyone else has said - bring it all. (No problem, right? You'll have plenty of room! :))

We were in Disney in March 2006, the same week. The weather could not have been more perfect. Have a great time.
