Hi everyone!
My daughter and her boyfriend are going to NYC in February.
I'm checking all the discount hotel sites but it's hard to know which hotels are really decent.
They'd like to stay in Mid-town (?) I guess and they'd LOVE to find a nice hotel for around $150 per night.
Any suggestions?
I appreciate any input!
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

We were there for Thanksgiving and stayed at the Sheraton New York. There is a Sheraton Manhattan right across the street.
We paid $326 a night, when you include the taxes which are alot. We drove and the car cost for the garage was $100.+ We stayed 3 nights.
I don't know much about NY hotels but I would think finding something for $150. in Mid Town would be an impossible feat, but you never know.
Good Luck!

You can find a room for $150 but they are very small. If they are looking just for a place to sleep with clean but not large accommodations, the Ramada New Yorker was a nice hotel. It was clean and the room ran about $120 with tax. It was a very small room though.

Hate to break it to you, but NYC (in a safe area) for $150 night will be next to impossible. You would almost be better off looking at some Westchester county suburbs (like a Ramada Inn type of place) and taking the train into the city. The only other thing to try is see if you can get a corporate rate (which should be the most discounted rate available.) I'm from NY, but since I only live 25 minutes outside the city, I can't really tell you the best place to find a safe/reasonably priced area.

There's a Clarion, I think it's around 40th or 42nd? Just off 5th Avenue that I stayed at. Not sure the rate (client paid) but was probably reasonable, nice (small) and seemed pretty safe. It was right near the Library if that helps.

I would recommend NO car, I think it's cheaper taking a Taxi (or even subway) than dealing with a car and parking...

The Helmsley is coming up for $130 per night.
Looks nice!

We went last may and got a pcakage thru AAA . We stayed at the Sheraton Manhatten and it also included a play and some sight seeing things.

The Marriott Marquis (dead center of Broadway and te theatre district) frequently runs weekend ratesin Feb in that price range - the hotel is wonderfully located, and has an excellent staff. Another good choice is the New York Hilton. Again, Hilton and Marriott often run winter time weekend rates.

If you can't get midtwon, try the Marriott Financial center on West St (2 blocks south of the former WTC site). Again, great rates, wonderful rooms (it's a smaller, nicer feeling hotel) and you're in the wonderful downtoen area.

Whatever you do, find something and go - ttry to stick with national chains in central locations.
