We are leaving to see Mickey a week from Friday. Dh and I both have Canon Rebels.

I'd like to get a good lense or possibly two that we could share.

We each have the kit lens, one 50mm f1.4 to share, an 18-200 f3.5-5.6 zoom, and a 10mm f2.8 fisheye (sigma).

I'm learning still and it's so hard to decide on what would be practical, or what I'm going to want as I learn more.

But, for now, I'm in the mood to buy something new to bring with us. I was thinking of this Tamron:

but also wondering if I want a really good wide angle.

Then I thought of just biting the bullet and getting both.

Budget is up to $1200

What are your favorites for great shots at Disney?

If you are looking at that tamron I would buy the new one:

http://www.tamron.com/en/photolens/di_hi_speed/a007.html

It has stabilization now and is very very nice at half the price of the new canon 24-70L. I had both for a few days a month ago and was really impressed with it. It would be great if you ever went full frame in the future. that will blow ur money in one shot, but it's a a great great lens.

I mean right now you have lens to cover all the available range so unless you start to look at fast lens in those ranges. . .

I always take my Tokina 11-17 2.8 with me and I have a ball with it. I also always have my 17-55 2.8 canon for walk around and it never let me down.

If it were me I would buy a 24-70 range fast lens vs the kit lens for sure.

just me.

Ask yourself what your current lenses aren't doing for you. What shots do you feel like you miss or what shots would you like to make easier for you to do?

My favorite lens to use at Disney? My 28-105 f.3.5-4.5 is on my camera most of the time. I like it because it's a great focal range for a walkaround lens, it's medium fast, it's not too heavy, and most of all I've had it so long that I know it inside out so there are no surprises with it.

so many different ways to answer this. i preffer to shoot primes. But here are my 4 lenses.

tokina 12-26 $600
nikor 35mm 1.8 $200
nikor 50mm 1.4 $500
nikor 55-300 $400

I have a bag that fits all 4 of those lenses. My walk around lebs is the 35mm 1.8. I use the 50, 1.4 in low light or when i want to do portraights. and the 55-300 is for far off zooms.

thats $1700 tied up in lenses, but it covers me for most any situation i find myself in.

I'm not familiar with the Tamron you mentioned, but the focal length range at f/2.8 is pretty good for a Disney trip. Most of the time, I use my Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 as my walk-around lens in the park.

My suggestion is not to try and carry too much with you in the park. It sucks the fun out of the trip if you're loaded down with glass.

My walkaround is a 28-70 f2.8. For me, all the different lighting conditions require fast glass. The tradeoff with fast glass is size and weight. Sometimes you have to pick your poison!:confused3 Because I'm only there every year to year and half or so, I try to photograph as much as possible whenever possible. The downside is I carry a lot of gear so I will be prepared for any circumstance that arises. That means in the bag will be the 70-200 f2.8, 30mm f1.4, and an 18-55 'kit' lens.
