hi, going to epcot on sat 28th may for my dd's 9th birthday, we have illuminations cruise for the evening and are planning on a bite to eat at B&C before the cruise. Question is, where for lunch? I have made a ps at coral reef but now am not sure, as have read mixed reviews about it, so where else would you recommend, my other DD is 7 and picky, so must have a kids menu, pizza fries etc, DD9 is more adventurous, so what would you suggest...? :confused3

Well, your 7 year old can eat off a child's menu anywhere so that makes things a little easier. For my DS's 8th birthday we had dinner at Le Cellier. The food was wonderful and his dessert was gorgeous! The menu for lunch is somewhat similar. This might be a good choice. Biergarten doesn't have a separate children's menu so I would probably avoid this place. As far as Coral Reef, I agree with the posters who think the food is high priced and not that great. It's neat to experience once but we won't be going back. Anywhere you go make sure that you stop at Guest Relations to get her birthday button! She will get lots of extra attention.

We got the button from the turnstile CM at the back gate to EPCOT. WHen does the restaurant Akershus princess lunch start, anyone? I have the CRT lunch booked for DD9's actual birthday in June. Then 1900 Park Faire for dinner. It was wonderful last weekend, we even wen back for breakfast on checkout day and the breakfast food and character interaction was great then too.

Slink, just noticed our girls are the same ages! Are you locked in to EPCOT for lunch? Crystal Palace is rumored to have a great character lunch with Pooh and friends too. My girls also really love Sci Fi for lunch, a quick boat ride to MGM from EPCOT.

The princess storybook lunch will be started while you are there in May. You may want to consider it. We are going to it on our next trip.

Happy Birthday!

thanks for the tips,

rcraw, we are not tied in to epcot but picked it because of the illuminations later, we are not really hoppers, we like to do a park a day, it must be a british thing or the fact we are not used to the heat as we don't get any! :rotfl:

newcrew, we did PSB breakfast two years ago and have CRT for this trip, my DD9 has only agreed to crt because she would like to eat in the castle, otherwise she is tooooooo old for characters breakfasts as she keeps telling me! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I could suggest the lunch if I,m brave enough! :rotfl:

I took my DD(10) to Chefs De France for lunch for a mommy-daughter outing and we loved it. She had the French menu and I had the chicken crepe and we shared the soup and creme brulee that came with the French menu. It was a very relaxing lunch. We had just escaped from her brother's Cub scout camp out at Ft. Wilderness.

We have the same problem. DS is also 9 and thinks he is to old for character meals. I am MUCH older than 9 and still love them! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

cookieprincess, I know what you mean, i have persuaded everyone to do CRT because I want to go, I figured that if we go to WDW again in two years time, the DD,s will be 9 & 11 and there is no way I could get them in the castle, so this trip is my best chance! :flower:

what about early lunch at beaches and cream and do one of those kitchem sinks??

Thanks debbiedoo, i think that is probably what we will do, am seriously thinking of cancelling the coral reef PS, having an enormous breakfast in the morning and then heading over to beaches and cream about 3pm ish.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I guess I am just lucky. I have an 11 yo DD and 8 yo DS. My DD just can't wait to do CRT again. But, maybe because it's just a girls thing. My DS is okay with characters, just NOT the princesses.

You know your daughter...what kind of food does she like? If you'd like, you can look at menus from wherever you're gonna be and decide from there!

Wish her a happy birthday from me! :cake: :bday: :teeth:

On our last trip my son aged 10 and my daughter aged 8 loved Coral Reef. We ended up having one of our best meals that trip there. I was a little hesitant after all the bad reviews I had read but my daughter had seen the Full House episode and had to eat there. It was great. Very good food, not as overpriced as I thought and we loved the atmosphere. You might be pleasantly surprised as well!

oh, amy&dan, now thats really confused me :confused3 I had almost talked myself out of coral reef, now I don't know what to do! :confused3
any other suggestions or views anyone?
