Suggestions for headlamp and/or reflective vest?

OK, did some looking online and the Petzl Tikka Plus looks like a winner. Still trying to decide on a vest? :confused3

Not a bad vest and will keep you safe.

As far as headlamps go... fit is key. If you have an REI near you or other large sporting goods store go and touch and feel them. I think these are kind of like shoes... you really need to get one that doesn't create an issue. I have an LED light for my off road bike and find that these units are light and bright. I have not gone with that technology on the run, yet. Currently, for dark trails, I have a small two AA battery mag lite flashlight. It came with a pocket that attaches to a belt. I find this all I need for the trails I use.

What is he using now? If he doesn't have anything now, has he talked about getting stuff? I know my wife usually knows what I want or what I am getting ready to buy just because I mention it a few times in casual conversation.

I like the singlet you posted. Looks comfortable. I wear a bright orange vest with reflective stripes, kind of like (Ok exactly like) the safety vests you see the people on the sides of the road wearing.

Since I always wear a visor, I bought a light that affixes to my visor. I bought it at Wal Mart in the hunting area of all places. They have white and green bulbs, so make sure you get the one with the white bulbs. I love it and it's cheap, around $9. I also use a little red flashing light. It is an amphipod brand but they don't sell it on their site - go figure. I bought it online from another running store. I have the one with an arm band.

And last but not least I carry a small flashlight. Since we don't have street lights, I need all the help I can get. I only use it when cars are coming. I like the idea of the mag light with a pouch. Hmmmm

So, there are 4 ideas for things you can get. Hope this helps.
enjoy,
Duane

Thanks. He told me he wanted a headlamp. He has borrowed a friend's I think once before when they went trail running later in the day.

He didn't specify a brand so I thought I'd take it upon myself to find one good for running, many say they're good for hiking, etc. but running is a tad different???

He didn't ask for the vest, but he is starting half marathon training soon and he'll be running late. I just want him wearing one. :rolleyes1
He isn't one to wear alot of extra stuff so I thought that vest looked pretty simple.

Shan have you seen some of the Brooks nightlife gear out there? They have some good prices at Running Warehouse, not to mention our WISH discount we get on top of it:

(Check the Walking/Running Info Websites sticky for the instructions and code.)

I just got the half zip in the mail the other day and it is really nice.

RATS! I just placed the order and didn't know about the discount. :headache:

EDIT - I emailed them and they adjusted it for me! Thanks Leana!

Shan, thanks for posting that link to the vest. It seems like a good one. I just use the standard Big ol version that was mentioned by Duane only mine is the lime green version.

Glad you got your stuff and with price adjustment!

Looks like I might be too late, but we bought a CX-400 light at our last 5K. I used it for the first time today and it's really cool! Clips to a visor or belt and is VERY adjustable! Cost about $10.
