We're trying to plan a DIS meet for our upcoming 2/28 Western cruise. Any suggestions on place and time? Does Diversions have windows? Thanks for your help!

Diversions does have windows.

On our previous cruises we've always tried to schedule a Dis meet at the beginning of the cruise. Usually just after the lifeboat drill and prior to the Sail Away Celebration. This has always proved to be a pretty good time slot because you have about 30 minutes or so and people can mingle their way to the Sail Away Celebration in groups after meeting. On the other hand, some people feel that this isn't enough time.

Our meets have always taken place at the Promenade Lounge, Deck 4, mid-ship. It's a large area capable of holding a lot of people, it has a bar available for drinks, and it's generally an easy location to find.

Really, the opportunities are endless! The only drawback to Diversions that I could foresee would be that it may not be open until later on embarkation day. Of course, if you are going to schedule it at a later time, either that day or on a later day of the cruise, that wouldn't factor in!

Good luck and enjoy your cruise!!!
:D

One quick correction, the Promenade Lounge is on Deck 3. We had our DISmeet there last August between the safety drill and sail away party. For me, it was just way to rushed, not only that but we had bad weather at sail away time and the sail away party was moved to the atrium, which made it way to noisey to hear in the Promenade Lounge. We are planning a onboard DISmeet on our next cruise for early Sunday afternoon in the Promenade Lounge. Hopefully, it will be much more relaxed and quiet!!!

on our seven day cruise, we had a nice sit down lunch on the first sea day, and was this ever a lot of fun. I think we were there for two hours. Every one just gabbed away. I think there were eleven adults. Then all our kids sat down together at another table. This was so much fun! The waiters were really good about keeping the kids entertained so that we could visit.

Then on my three day, one DIS member was very lucky and got an upgrade to a CAT 3, so we met in their room, but i can't remember if it was just prior to the drill or afterwards right before the sailaway. That just wasn't enough time, but on a three day your time is so limited.

Me and trying to remember the decks!

Sorry for the mis-information Plutospup!

I think it is a good idea to schedule a back-up meet. If you miss the cruise meet at the sailaway party (and that is easy to do because it can get crowded) you might not met up with everyone at all during the cruise.

The secret deck on deck 7 (I think) is a very good cruise meet spot.

We had a "semi" meet waiting in line to board the ship, as two of the DIS members were kind enough to make hats for those of us who wanted it, so we walked around finding the others with hats! We drew alot of attention.... *grin* Then we had a meet at 3:15 or so in front of Studio Sea, and then gathered in the Atrium, and the same member (OKWMEMBER Gary) had arranged for the cruise photographer to take a group photo! Then a bunch of us got together in the Promenade lounge at 10pm, and that was the start of our week together.

I remember reading that someone was able to get a Dis meet during High Tea, but I don't know how they did it.

Maybe in the new coffee bar, a chance to check out the place.

Have a great trip.

We are also having a mini DISmeet at the Radisson (poolside) the night before our cruise, than a Palo Brunch DISmeet during the cruise. Last year we had our Palo Brunch DISmeet on Thursday morning, it was nice hearing how everyone's week was going by Thursday. The DISmeets really added to the cruise!!!

There are some good suggestions here ... any more???

Thanks for starting this thread, Plutospup! As you know, I'm gonna be at whatever we arrange:wave2:
