Suggestions for Dining Review

Kevin and John need to review some of the walk-up locations. They are unacceptable by anyone's standards, let alone Disney.

Examples:

The Boardwalk Pizza Window is a disgrace. The only thing they serve is pizza and it is terrible. How is it possible the one thing in which they specialize is so bad? I mean, they have terrific pizza just a half-mile away at Via Napoli in Epcot. Why don't they share the recipe with themselves? Even the fast-food pizza like Papa Johns are better than the Boardwalk. And then to charge over $4 for a tiny slice of cheese pizza - that takes a lot of arrogance.

Beastly in Animal Kingdom. Don't ever get the Lobster mac and cheese or the 3-cheese pasta. Simply gross. All cheese, no pasta. Cheap lobster. Really bad. Why Disney? Why bother? Why so boldly steal our money?

By and large, Disney's fast-food is so gross and overpriced. From their rubbery, overcooked cheeseburgers to their nasty pizza. Yet lunch for my family of four always seems to reach the $60 mark. Just dusgraceful. Why do we put up with it?

I'm doubting @DisneyKevin would see this as a worthy task. :rotfl2:

I was thinking the same thing. I like Kevin and would not want to subject him to "gross and overpriced", "rubbery, overcooked cheeseburgers", "nasty pizza", "cheap lobster." :charac2:

I mean, it would be hilarious, but . . . .:badpc:

Pizza is always a gamble, and there are so many versions and variations of it. We love Via Napoli in spite of the price, where as we find Pizza Planet an acceptable go to qs. They are very different versions of pizza though.

I think it would be a great contrast to send John and Kevin along with some of the 'young kids' of the group. I have no doubt Kevin and JL or Craig will give different stories. It's all opinion after all, but it would be fun to listen to.

I am anxiously waiting on Kevin's review of the referb on Liberty Tree too. While I love lunch there, I also love hearing his comments on the place from a few years back. 'Soup kitchen thanksgiving' made me laugh hard enough to make coffee come out of my nose. We need a segment, if not an entire show, of John, Kevin, and others reviewing these places, if for no other reason than the pure entertainment factor. I'm sure time is a factor, but there people have to eat somewhere.

I have listened to the "Soup Kitchen Thanksgiving" episode no less than three times. It is gold.

I agree with your thoughts about Counter Service food at the World ... definitely varies and given all the good options always amazed that so many bad places (bad options and bad quality) are still around.

Not sure if a typical dining review from Kevin and John is the best format though ... maybe the team could do a segment on counter service food at WDW covering their favorites and also places to avoid. Not sure if they will do brackets in the future with Dustin gone, but a counter service bracket competition could be fun as well

Seems to me like you already did their job for them by reviewing the restaurants yourself.

That was my intention. Everyone who isn't conditioned and brainwashed by the Mouse to think all is lovely already knows their walk-up window food sucks.

It doesn't need to be this way. There are so many places that do fast food well (or, minimally, better than Disney) - from Five Guys Burgers and Fries to Chick Fil A to Papa John's. Surely, Disney could meet some minimal standards and still maintain record profits.

Not all of the walk up windows suck. The pot roast mac and cheese at the friars nook is amazing, I've been trying to make it myself with modest results. The waffle place near the hall of presidents is great, and the bakery in the France pavilion is practically my second home.
Umm...I wanted to add more but I can't think of any. Does the pub at Rose and Crown count? Gotta love beer for lunch or a snack.

I think Dustin did a bracket like this, but if not they need to.

I think this is very much an over-generalization. Disney counter service food is one of the big things we love about Disney World. You can get a great meal at a great price. Try going to Six Flags or Hersheypark. The food is far more expensive and it sucks. I have never had a decent meal at either of those parks.

We are currently at Disney. Today, we had lunch at Pecos Bill's. I got the chicken fajita platter and thought it was excellent. I would put it up against any Mexican place around. And for $13 I think it was a very fair price, especially given the toppings bar which has pretty respectable guacamole along with everything else.

In The Land, you can have a very good meal at Sunshine Seasons. Landscape of Flavor at Art of Animation is another fine choice. Or Tangerine Cafe in Morocco. Or Yak and Yeti's or Flame Tree in AK. About the only place the counter service food is somewhat lacking is DHS.
