Suggestions for complicated ressie at MS?

I about to pull the trigger on a complicated change to a ressie that will involve cancelling numerous nights, booking a few more, waitlisting for those not available (too many) and probably booking a few cash nights.

Our current reservation involves banked, borrowed and current UY points. The ressie is for April and our UY ends in July. We don't plan another trip before the end of our UY, so it is very important to us that we use our banked and borrowed points in the surviving reservation so that we can still bank our current UY points.

Any suggestion on the best time to call to get the necessary attention from MS to make sure that all of this is done correctly? I was thinking of calling tomorrow, but then wondered if there are more inexperienced CSRs working on Saturday and it would be better to wait to Monday.

Any thoughts? -- Suzanne

I would say it's luck of the draw on how experienced a CM you end up with. My only suggestion is to avoid early Monday morning as that is MS' busiest time. Regardless, if you don't have a comfort level with who you are dealing with, feel free to politely discontinue the call and call back.

My experience is as long as you know what you are doing, have everything written out, and know exactly what your reservations and point totals should look like when you finish, you will probably have little problem. The other suggestion is to take your time on the call...don't rush through it or let them do the same.

Good luck! :)

I second Granny's suggestions. I have always felt fine with the CMs at MS until my call this past Monday. The CM made a couple of mistakes and got a little snarky when I corrected her. With the complexities of your situation, for SURE I would call back if you feel don't feel comfortable.
One other note: every time I have called on a Saturday it has been a long wait.

Thanks for the help. I called exactly at 1 pm today and got thru with no wait. The call was not nearly as complicated as I thought it woudl be because NONE of the 4 nights (4/17-20 & 4/22) I needed to book with points were available at BWV studios.

So, I have yet to cancel any of the nights I probably won't need until I can get a cash ressie for all the nights I probably will need. I have waitlisted all the nights.

By the end of today, I have all but one night booked, but I needed 4 separate reservations with CRO to do so. I guess we will get to be good friends of the the front desk staff as we keep checking out and checking back in to the the same room category!

By the way, by 1:30 today, when I called MS back with one more question, I jst got a busy signal.

If everything is linked and you are at the same resort I don't think you will need to check in and out

We can't "link" CRO cash reservations with reservations made through MS.

We can only "cross reference" them and hope to stay in the same room.

The OP will have to check out and back in again (at a minimum) between the CRO reservations and MS reservations. Hope her waitlists come through so that she doesn't need the CRO reservations after all.

I guess I don't understand why someone would use CRO when MS is available? You would also get your DVC discount..right?

I used CRO because MS had no availability for our nights. We wanted a studio at BWV for cash, with or without the discount, while we wait for pixie dust to bring us our waitlisted rooms.

For a couple of those nights, I could even snag AP rates thru CRO, which are slightly better than the member discount. It was interesting that CRO also had no availability when I spoke to them by phone but I could book the same nights online if I broke them into multiple reservations.

But generally I agree, booking with CRO is not ideal. I wouldn't do it just to save the $10 difference between the member's discount and an AP rate on a studio. But I would do it if the alternative was not having any reservation at all.
