Suggestions for a Facetious Planning Slideshow

I'm planning a trip for the family in January. I have my two kids (1 and 7), and my parents. My parents have never been and so I am the "planner". Which honestly, I love doing. But they are unaware or they don't care, not sure which, (probably a bit of both) of how much planning it really takes, so every time I ask them ANY Disney related question, I get an exaggerated eye roll and it's become a big joke about how "into it" I am. But I would like their input on some things, ADRs are pointless if they won't eat, and who wants to spend a week with people who aren't having a good time? Not me! :sad2:

So I want to put together a little slideshow, mostly as a joke, with comparisons, and examples of Disney World-esque things to get them to occasionally throw out an opinion but to also punch a little fun at myself ;)

The serious things I'll put in are our ADR options, since my day for reservations is in a couple of days, and maybe I'll throw in some activity possibilities for the non-park days, but what else can I put in there that will make it a bit of a gag?

I would try to find those sad, awful posts telling how awful the trip was because they had to wait in line for rides and couldn't get into any table service restaurants...they had wanted to be spontaneous....and pooh-poohed the whole 'plan every minute' mentality!!! Find shots of the crowded parks.
I have friends like this....they would just roll their eyes. When we got to WDW, one morning, my friend's dh just stood there, as we were trying to get up and out for rope drop, saying 'Yeah, let's rush out the door, no relaxing, so we can stand in another long line to get into the park, then more lines to ride stuff!!!' It was actually quite funny...however, we did split off from them after 3 days!!! Met up for dinner.

So.....I would tell them that if you don't make meal ADRs, you all are going to face a lot of quick service meals, and realistically, how many burgers/fries do they want to eat??? If they say nothing, or start with the eye rolls, just make ADRs that you would like....same with FP+ when that window opens. Then, when/if anyone complains when you get there? Just say...'Well, if you'll remember, I tried asking for your input, and I got no response, or was told I was over-planning.'

You know those promotional ads from Disney where they have Cinderella hugging the little princess in front of the castle on the grass or where they show Mickey holding hands with the cute little boy in his mouseears walking through the park? I would find some of those and then some pictures of how it really is with crowds and lines. I would make them "Expectation" and "Reality" slides.

Aside from that I would plan what you want to plan and then take them along. Remember to take into account what you know about your parents-what kinds of food do they typically enjoy-are they willing to try new things-what time do they normally eat meals at home-and keep in mind any physical limitations they might have. Hot, tired, and aching people are not fun people regardless of their age.

There was an article on The Dis ( or was it Easy WDW?) that showed photos with time stamps of the area in front of the train station....and how it became more and more crowded over very short amounts of time. That would certainly make the point for me.....if I weren't already a fan of rope drop and planning......

That would be easyWDW:

ETA: OK, I guess I should've actually looked at the post before linking it, but easyWDW has posted pictures with time stamps showing the crowds increasing as you get closer to opening.

There are some hilarious things in the Unofficial Guide, maybe the Touring Plans website too, that bring home the planing point. Also, I just started reading the Ride Delegate about a WDW VIP tour guide. There's some awesome stuff in that book. Like this family that insisted on staying in the IASW boat to ride again. Maybe those could give you some ideas.
