Suggestions for a book for kids?

I am taking my DD9 on a mother/daughter trip and was going to surprise her with it, but she heard about it and is really into planning. Are there any good planning books for kids out there? She's been there 7 times, so I'm looking for something more than just info about rides.

The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World is an excellent book and not just for adults.

We bought this one for your nieces a few years ago. Of course they had never been to WDW before. Just thought I'd throw it out there. You can see a preview of some of the pages on the link below:
Birnbaum's Walt Disney World For Kids 2009 (Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids By Kids) (Paperback)

Product Description
Children are perhaps Walt Disney World's biggest fans. On playgrounds and in classrooms, there's always excited talk about who went to Walt Disney World and what they did each day-or minute. It has become almost a rite of passage to visit America's most popular travel destination, and kids can be wonderful sources of information.

Every area and attraction of Walt Disney World is covered, with kids' honest reactions and impressions included. There is a whole chapter devoted to each of the theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom. Another chapter describes the rest of Walt Disney World, including Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, Fort Wilderness, Downtown Disney, and dining spots with kid appeal.

The book is updated annually, and the 2009 edition features lots of new tips and attraction reviews from young "Disney Experts" around the world. We'll tell kids how to catch "Wildcat fever" at the rollicking new show, "High School Musical 2-School's Out!" And we'll give young readers the inside scoop on the newest WDW attractions, including the thrilling Toy Story Mania!

My dd is now 15, has been to WDW about 11 times since she was 5...lucky girl. Her favorite WDW book, to this day??? Birnbaum's Official Guide to WDW for Kids. It doesn't talk down to them, gives some good info. She still asks for it when she goes.
A PassPorter might be fun....lots of good, more grown-up type info but your dd can fill in the pages for each day..there is a journal type thing at the end of the book where you can answer questions as to your day in the parks. Makes a great thing to look back on, years down the road.

for something completely different...how about a biography of Walt Disney? There are at least two written for young readers. I know it's not about the parks, but my DS 6 liked hearing about Walt-- he was delighted to learn that a friend of his has Walt's middle name as a first name, and also how much Walt loved trains. ("He's just like me mom!")

I just bought this for my almost 8YO DD. She LOVED it, and it is amazing what she has learned from it. Anything I mention anything about an attraction, our resort, whatever she says "I know that mom. I read about it in 'the book'". Plus she is telling us all this Disney trivia that she picked up in the book!

I have also let her plan with me online, which has made her feel really involved in the planning process. This is helping to build the excitement for her and DS who is 4. She explains Disney to him in 'kid terms', which is really fun to watch.

I bought it along with a Disney movie from Amazon, which was enough to qualify for free shipping.
