There is another forum (not Disney) I frequent, as do some other Disers, This is a post from that forum
Big breath !!
Ashley was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, sadly it has spread to his lungs, tummy and spleen. He started him first bought of chemo on sat.
We are so very proud of him as he's been a real hero having bloods and canulars sited every day he hasn't cryed once.

Ashley is 7, his tests were carried out just before he left for DLRP earlier this month, not surprisingly the holiday wasn't very good due to his illness and the family's worry. He is now undergoing 15 days on and 15 days off Chemotherapy and is expected to continue this routine for the next 6 months followed possibly by radiotherapy. Support in monetry form, good wishes and get well cards has poured in for the family over on the other forum and I would really like to organise some sort of Get Well message from the Disney characters for Ashley, a friend of his mum's thinks it's a good idea.
How can I do this ?
Our trip is 2 days long and I want to collect as many autographs as I can, we will have at least 1 character meal so I'm guaranteed to get the usual ones, but I need ideas on how to get the rarer ones.
I thought about buying an autograph book or would a Get Well card be better ? and asking if I could leave it at City Hall with a letter of explanation, or maybe where the parades starts or finishes and asking if it could be passed around, but I'm really open to suggestions.

Mods I know this isn't strictly a DLRP thread but could we just leave it on the board for a little while, I think it will be overlooked in the non DLRP section.
Thanks x

I think the idea of asking at City Hall or at reception of the hotel regarding seeing what the CMs can do to help is a good one :)

I think it should be no problem to get a wide range of signatures from City Hall or even your hotel.
When we once had a lot of problems during check-in at the DLH. I complained and mentioned that it was also my birthday. And 2 hours later we had this card in our room with 11 signatures and a note in German saying “Happy birthday from the DLH team”

Maybe they will do the same for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed. :)
Click on the picture to see all 11 signatures.

What a lovely thought Jill  .

I remember mention that one of the dissers couldnt find a character (princess I think) and they went to City Hall. They supplied them with a sheet of all the princess autographs. I am assuming that they have all the autographs like that so you could put them in a get well card.

I can't take the credit for the idea, it came from Jamie.
I have had a fabulous offer by pm from a DISer offering to contact WDW for me and obviously that is something I can consider, but I'm rather hoping that DLRP will come up trumps, not least because I'm proud of DS for suggesting it and I don't want to take that away from him, having said that I don't want him to spend his 2 days queueing for autographs (other thread).
I have emailed DLRP, but given your information Jackie and Marcus, thank you both  I'm definately thinking that City Hall will be a good place to start.
Thankyou all.

How about including photos as well especially if you could get some of characters waving they would look as though they were waving to him

That's a good idea. I'd be happy for any of our character photos that are deemed suitable to be used :)

sending you a PM! I have something which may be suitable...

You are all wonderful Bavaria I have sent you a PM :goodvibes

I have decided to ask Ashley's mum if she's happy with the idea, as the Get Well card looks like it may well turn into a get well Scrap Book, as soon as I hear from her I will let you all know, thanks to everyone whose offered to help, Ashley's mum was amazed at the reaction on the other forum I think she will be totally bowled over to know how you've all reacted too.
Thanks again,
Jill. :)

Can I say very very big thankyou to one of our Disers.:flower3:

Bavaria has very kindly sent me an unmarked autograph album complete with 35 signatures, this is such a fabulous start to the Get Well Card/Scrapbook/Autograph collection for Ashley, I'm still a little unsure what to do exactly, but I think possibly a scrapbook will be the answer and if you're all in agreement then I will most definately be searching for suitable character photos from your pictures to accompany the autographs. I've heard from Ashley's mum, she thinks it's a lovely idea, she is still in shock at the generosity the family have encountered from people they have never met.
"Ashley is doing well, he had the last dose of his first cycle yesterday and as we arrived at the hospital we noticed his hair has started to fall out, but Ash is so laid back by it all, he's really excited and can't wait to see his Dad, uncle and a a few of our friends shave their hair off."

I haven't heard from DLRP yet:confused3, may have to play that bit by ear and given Marcus's info I think City Hall will be my best bet.:)

I've only just read the whole of this thread and think its a lovely idea. I'm so pleased for you that Bavaria has given you an autograph book-thats so wonderful and very kind.

I think a scrapbook is a lovely idea, your very welcome to use any of my photos if any are suitable, if you see any you would like to use then i'm more than happy to crop/tidy them up abit, or whatever u'd like doin to them~ i do love photoshop so photo editing isnt a problem. Shall i put my pics on photobucket or sumthing for you to view?
I also know of sum lovely scrapbook websites you can buy disney bits from if you want me to send you links? or if you were thinking of doing a digital scrapbook i could take sum pics of some of the disney scrapbook stuff i have from one i made last yr. then again you could prob print these and would be nice to use in a normal scrapbook.
Anyway just a few things i thought might be helpful

Jill, I'm so glad that it reached you safely. Just an idea - I made a 'picture book' for a little friend of mine by using a photo of a character on one page and the autograph on the facing page. I used an 8 inch by 8 inch scrapbook and used plain primary coloured paper as the background, with contrasting mat paper under the photos.

It was very quick and easy, if anyone has some basic skills (I failed cutting and pasting in kindergarten, so I definitely DON'T have a lot of skill in that area! :rotfl: )

A few of you have asked me how I got on with this, well we had Bavaria's wonderful album and the boy's donated theirs too, we collected some on the trip and decided to put them into a Christmas Card for Ashley. I had some lovely red Mickey Mouse confetti from the Disney Store too and we sprinkled that in the envelope and card, bet Ashley's mum loved me ! Anyway I had a lovely message from Ashley's mum to say he was absolutely thrilled with the card and we included a Get Well message from the main man in my best Mickey Mouse speak.
"Well hiya Ashley, remember me ?
Aw-gee i was sad to hear that you've been poorly since you came over to see me and the folks at Disneyland Paris, but yunno I was so proud when I found out how brave you've been having that nasty treatment to make you all well again.
Guess you're looking forward to Christmas, oh boy I know we sure are and I'll bet there'll be a few swell gifts with your name on them under the christmas tree !
Minnie says hi and Pluto says woof and all of us wish you
"A GREAT BIG MERRY CHRISTMAS ASHLEY"
and
"HURRY UP AND GET WELL SOON".

p.s. a few of our pals wanted to sign your card too."

Thanks for all the help and ideas, I'd been meaning to post this up for you but Ashley's mum had promised me a picture of him with the card, which I've not received yet, but I'm guessing they've other things on their mind. :)

Awww that brought tears to my eyes.
How nice of you to of done that for him.

That was so kind of you, Jill ~ I'm so glad Ashley was thrilled with it.

I hope he's doing well. :flower3:

Jill, that's wonderful - you are so sweet!! thank you so much for posting the picture... sending continued best thoughts to the family.... :)
