My DH and I are planning to come to DL for the 1/2 marathon on labor day weekend. We found a good price on a flight into the ONT airport but never having been to CA before let alone that airport we don't know the best option for getting to the park. I couldn't find any official "shuttle service" from that airport. Should we rent a car or are there other options. Also, how long will it take to get there at roughly 10-11am on a Friday? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Prime Time and Super Shuttle both run out of Ontario. Not sure what the cost is. It's around 25-30 miles away, so you'll probably want to allow an hour, I would think?

the disney shuttle dose dosent it. idk much about it but im sure some one here will answer

I asked a similar question and didn't get a definitive answer, but after some looking into it found that there is an "official" disney bus, its run by mears, so is the one in WDW actually I think. Anyways, at DLR, unlike WDW, its not reliable, apparently, or isn't all the time. I've actually used that twice in the past, and had no problem. What was suggested though by a travel guide was to go to the airport and just find the shuttle area, its clearly marked if I recall correctly, and get on the first shuttle that comes regardless of company, and pay directly there. I checked ahead on some of the companies listed in that book and they were all the same price to buy ahead as they were to buy once there, some offer round trip discounts. Prices ranged from about 13 - 18 dollars one way, disney bus was the cheapest, but can make a bunch of stops before your hotel, shuttles hold less people so they will likely make less stops.

This is a little unnerving as you don't have your shuttle tickets in hand before, but I remember seeing people pay on the shuttle I had tickets for last time I was there, so its done. I guess the big advantage is you dont have to wait for a certain company, just whatever is there.

My family and I flew into Ontario airport in January. The airport was much smaller than LAX and easier to navigate. Because we were traveling with grandparents too, which made six of us, we rented a mini van. I'd say it ran us about $130 through Alamo for a five day rental. It was nice to have the car because we made a few trips to the grocery store. Depends how big your party is if this would be worth it for you.

The Disneyland Resert Express is run by Gray Line Anaheim; it only runs to LAX and SNA. Here's the link: http://graylineanaheim.com/docs/GL Anaheim DRE Brochure 2008.pdf
I've heard it's quite reliable and convenient.

Ah, cool. I must have confused the thread I read. There are multiple posts though complaining about the service regardless, and the travel guide I was reading actually noted it as well. I know there are a lot of negative reviews though, just the nature of the beast. Since there is no bonus to booking ahead, seems the advice that guide gave was still ideal though, you can take the disney bus if its first, or take another one.
