I have type 1 diabetes and due to a new migraine diet, now can't have caffeine or nutrasweet. I also now need 60 ounces of fluid a day. We have a trip coming up the end of the month.

So, other than water, can you recall any drink options at WDW?

Need to be relatively sugar-free (because of the diabetes)
If sweetened, only with stevia or splenda (because of migraine)
Caffeine is limited to 12 ounces/day (which will probabably be my AM cup of coffee)

I am thinking I am looking at a lot of bottled water....

I think that the lemonaide options at the soda fountains are sweetened with sweeteners other than Splenda. I think the same is true of Sprite Zero unfortunately. Ask Special Diets if all of the iced teas are sweetened and if yes, with what. Those might make a good option for you.

DH would also sometimes get V8 to go with his meal. Yes there are carbs in it but it's not a lot of carbs and it's carbs from fruits and vegetables rather than HFCS so easier (at least for him) to metabolize and it works well with a moderate meal.

DH was able to get selzer at several restaurants. He really likes selzer so this was a good option for him.

Splenda and stevia sweetened drinks are not available but you can bring your own sodas. I am an adult type 1 diabetic who is allergic to aspartame (Equal) as well as sugar alcohols. Only thing available to me that are truly safe are water and ice tea. Unfortunately ice tea is full of caffeine.
Diet Rite sodas are caffeine free and Publix does have caffeine free diet soda sweetened with splenda.

I try to stay sugar/ caffeine free most of the time. One thing that I do is request ice water (free) with lemon and add a pack or two of splenda. You can carry these with you. Really refreshing and covers up what can sometimes be not so great water. Also look for flavor packs to add to bottle water that meet your needs. I use these a lot but am not sure what they are sweetened with.

Are the diet rite sodas the ones sweetend with splenda? I still need to spend some time investigating labels since these diet restrictions are new. I'm going to do a garden grocer or wego shop order so need to figure out what I need to request I guess.

If you're going to place a grocery order anyway, look into some of the flavoured seltzers. My DH loves these. They don't have any kind of sweeteners, real or artificial so they're wonderful for a carbonated beverage option. My DH is partial to lemon/lime or black cherry ones but they do come in all sorts of flavours (or unflavoured if you'd prefer).

I am a type 2 diabetic who is allergic to nutrasweet (aspertame). I look for drinks with splenda in them. Crystal Light has some great lemonade and other flavors now with Splenda. They are in the little packets that you add to your water bottle. I am bringing them for our next trip. My favorite is the strawberry-kiwi flavor. No caffeine and no sugar. I found them in the tea/coffee aisle at our local grocery store. Hope this helps.

What about those little packs of Crystal Light? I'm not sure what they are flavored with.

I drink a lot of plain iced tea without Spenda at WDW, but I know there is a bit of caffeine in it so that might not be an option.

I also drink just plain ice water. I'm VERY picky when it comes to water taste, but I don't have any issues with WDW water. Probably I've brainwashed myself into thinking its ok because I don't want to pay $2 for a bottle of water! LOL!

Good luck!!

Yes, they are sweetened with Splenda. I cannot use another of the other artificial sweeteners. Makes life difficult.

Crystal light has a line of drink singles called pure fitness then are made with small amounts of sugar/stevia (truvia). They have very few actual calories and no artificial sweetners. They also taste pretty good. They might work for you.

Personally I stick to the lemon lime and grape, but my nephew said the kiwi strawberry was pretty good. And a few extra electrolytes at WDW can't be bad. 15 calories per flavor stick, 3g sugar, 3g carbs. I'll try to check on my package when I get home but this was on the web as the calories

I also use the Crystal Light drink sticks. I know WDW has Smart Water and I think my daughter was drinking Life Water someplace but I'm not positive. I am also not sure what is in them since I stick to plain old water and Crystal Light when I want some flavor.

Oh and this is just a FYI, but if you have a Whole Foods or other "health" food store near you they have a soda under the brand name Zevia. It's diet soda made with stevia.

Ginger Ale is pretty tasty, as is the Orange. The lemon lime (sprite/7up) is absolutly atrocious as least I thought so. My step dad did not like the cherry soda, but he does not like diet soda so that's a wash. There is also a cola, what looks like a Dr Pepper, and a ginger Rootbeer I have not tried.

It's not the real thing but when you're not having anything it might be a nice change of pace.

I believe there is a Whole Foods in Orlando so if you have a car you might want to run over and pick up a sixpack. Here it is around $6, so not cheap but not scary either.

I'm caffeine and sugar free on my drinks too. I like the Lemonade Lite 5 cal. at WDW but not sure what the sweetener is on that.

Another line of Splenda sodas is made by Hansen's---they are my absolute favorite. You'll have to check with your shopping company to see if they can get them though. I buy mine locally at Trader Joe's.

Another WDW option: get a hot tea using the Twinings herbal tea bags (they are caffeine free). After it steeps, pour it into a cold cup filled with ice. Add Splenda if you want (I usually just drink mine plain though).

I would read the labels on Crystal Lite carefully because the ones in my Publix all contain aspartame. Propel and Arizona Tea single serves both use Splenda (Sucralose)

The Arizona tea packets don't come in caffeine free but that reminds me: at Publix you can buy a gallon size Arizona Ice Tea that is caffeine free and sugar free (made with Splenda). I drink it all summer long at the beach.

It's only the Crystal Light PURE FITNESS that has the no artificial stuff.

I was referencing Ladyhawk's comment that Crystal Lite was sweetened with Splenda. I could not find any Crystal Lite sweetened with Splenda and on checking on the Crystal Lite website all their products use aspartame except the Pure Fitness.

Thanks all! I packed some of the Crystal Lite Pure Fitness, 4C lemonade (sweetened with splenda) and will have some splenda sweetened drink picked up at the grocery store too. I am doing pretty good with water, especially with lemon - I just know disney water is kind of icky. I do the decaf tea bags and ice at home - I didn't think to ask for that at restaurants!
