Who's going.....
Me, Sue, 54 (55 while we are away)
DH Keith, 52
DS, Iain, 17
Leaving home and St. Pete's Beach
It‘s Tuesday morning at 4 a.m. and the alarm clock has gone off. (I’ve never seen my son jump up this quick for school or college), but there he was dressed and eagerly waiting for the taxi to arrive. It was a bit late but still got us to the airport in plenty of time. We had checked in on line the night before so it made it a lot easier. Flight was good apart from a slight mishap a couple of hours before landing. I’m still not sure what the Pilot did, but we dropped 2000 feet out of the sky (a bit like Tower of Terror). A minute later he announced “Sorry Ladies and Gentlemen, that was my fault”. We presume he hit a wrong button !!
Arrived MCO 15 minutes early and it was roasting. We went to Dollar to pick up our car and a lovely man at Dollar said we would need a bigger car with 3 cases and 2 sets of golf clubs !! So he upgraded us to a Toyota SUV, and it was so roomy. We had booked our first night at Quality Inn Plaza as Keith didn’t fancy driving over to St. Pete’s the minute we landed. So we dropped off our luggage, had a shower and went to the golf shops (how unusual). Early to bed that night then up early to book Palm and Magnolia golf courses, before heading off to Sirata Beach resort at St. Pete’s for 4 days. This hotel was gorgeous and we had a ground floor room which faced the pool. The sea was roasting and the temperature was 95 in the shade !! (I could get used to this). A friend had recommended a good steakhouse (Silas) so we ate there at night and enjoyed a couple of Margaritas before going back to our hotel and the lovely ice cool beers we had in the fridge.
Thursday morning at 6 a.m. we were woken up by Iain (son), who decided before it got too hot he was going for a jog along the beach. (He’s a Keep fit addict - unlike his Mum) !! Later we drove to Tyrone Shopping Mall where we managed to make a slight dent in our bank account. Found Bennigans at night where we had more cocktails and more steak.
Friday morning laptop came into use, as Beach Boys tickets were on pre sale. Managed to get 4 rows back at Edinburgh Playhouse so I was just a little bit happy to say the least !! (Most of you know I’m a Beach Boys fanatic anyway). After this we headed over to Busch Gardens where we spent a very hot and humid day. Decided on Bennigans again at night (thanks to Gary !).
Saturday was lazy, we just chilled around the pool, swam in the sea as tomorrow we are off to Orlando !!
