so I'm watching the Yankees network and they're showing a "Yankees classic" -- a game played at Fenway in the late afternoon, with players like Fisk and Yastremski and Don Zimmer in the wrong uniform battling it out with the likes of Ron Guidry, Goose Gossage, Sweet Lou Pinella, Thurmon Munson (sob) and Mr. October himself, Reggie Jackson...
and the voices of Messer, White and Rizzuto calling the game...
and the primitive graphics of the time clashing with the "YES" network graphics added on ...
and the top of the 7th, 2-0 Red Sox, 2 on, , and Bucky Dent comes to the plate...
and what otherwise might have been a routine fly ball in any other stadium...goes sailing over the Green Monster ...and Messer (or was it White?) says that this is the biggest home run of Dent's career...
but I had forgotten what a nailbiter the game was...even after the home run...how Gossage had to struggle in the bottom of the 9th...
but somewhere, George herman Ruth was laughing...
