I just had to share this story- I tried to book at 2 bedroom unit at Vero Beach about 5 months ago for Easter Week. All I could get was a 1BR so I got waitlisted for the 2 BR. We were not exactly sure how many family members were going with us so I booked a studio on cash with member discount just to be sure to have enough beds. Waitlist did not come through, nor did the day by day calling at 6 days out from check-in.

Well, I called MS on Friday am, 2 days before check-in , to get the same answer-resort is sold out and we cannot combine your studio and 1BR into a 2 BR. I was SOOOO bummed. I thought my husband and I would have to split up between the two rooms each with 2 kids.

I figured "What do I have to lose?" and called the resort directly. Melissa answered the phone call and told me she could help me when I asked to speak to the room controller. Within a few minutes she had us confirmed for a 2 BR lockoff!!!! I was jumping up and down in my office I was so happy. Melissa told me I had to call back to MS and have them call her directly to close the deal.

I called MS and they started in with me about the resort sold out and I was within the 6 days so there would be cancellation charges on the studio, issues with banking/borrowing etc etc.
I stood my ground and told them that Melissa at the resort's front deck assured me this was possible with no penalties of any kind and please call her.

It was a done deal in a matter of minutes.

When we checked in on Sunday AM (we drove all night from Rochester NY) our room was ready at 10am (yeah), the cast member that checked us in has a wife that grew up and whose family still lives not even a mile from our house in Rochester(what a small world), and BEST OF ALL, Melissa was actually working that morning and we all got to thank her in person.

MAGIC, MAGIC, MAGIC can you believe it???

WE LOVED VERO BEACH!!!! Our first and NOT last trip for sure. Things I was glad I took-sun screen, boogy-board, beach umbrella, kids beach shovels, rollerblades, tennis rackets, basketball, just to name a few.

Food is $$ but very tasty at the resort. First day we ate lunch at the pool side snack bar. $60.00 for a 2 adults and 4 kids!! I went to Publix and bought stuff to make lunches for the rest of the week. Sometimes we would go back to the room or a couple times I packed it up as a picnic lunch and took it to the pool with us.

They do a nice job of organized activities for the kids throughout the day. We joined in a few near the end and I wish we had done more.

Weather was perfect!! Near 80 during the day, in the 60s at night. Only negative was the no-see-ums. I got bit up and didn't even realize it. DH and kids were fine.

Very relaxing resort and nice to have the ocean right there unlike the HH resort.

Sorry so long--hope this has helped someone out there!!

Glad it worked out for you. We have had similar luck in the past at the last minute. We spent one night at VB last year just to see it and thought we were going to be there over Memorial day week this year. Long story but we will be at OKW instead. I was really looking forward to spending some time there. Oh well, as long as it's DVC, it's ok with us. We ate at the less expensive restaurant and I thought it was really good, DH hamburger was just ok. That ocean view is just breaktaking, and the sound of the waves. I could live there forever! Did you see any dune rats? Dh decided after reading a thread a while back that he never wanted to stay there again. I found it humorous.

Mary, that's a great story! Glad you had "magic" on your Vero trip.
