Subway

Let me share why I’m such a “crazy” person. See when 9/11 happened I wasn’t sitting in a classroom I was working in midtown on the 27th floor. They shut down our elevators and I had to walk/run/panic down 27 flights of stairs. I was overweight and out of shape and needed assistance down the last few flights. Had that been my building I would not have been able to save myself. I most likely had a sausage mcmuffin for breakfast as well.

That scared me in a way I cannot explain to non-New Yorkers. And from then onward I have read every label and worked to correct myself. So call me what you want, but I will never be in a position again to not save myself.

That's a really tragic thing to have happened...but the way you word things is quite rude.

We(myself and other DISers) on these threads aren't stupid...we don't need you force feeding us info.

My Dh is on the road all week-at least 2 x a week he gets a 6" Subway
Club or ham and cheese with lettuce & tomatoes
Its $5
He hates fast food hamburgers

He lifts weights, walks and is 175lbs & super healthy & a major health nut/exercise freak

We love Subway-when we travel we know it will be a fast good lunch:)

Just because the troll had a wake up call-I cant imagine going NUTS over the pickling ingrediants those peppers are in?:confused3:sad2:

Wow, this totally forgives your posting style.... no really.... Anybody who goes through something so tragic no longer has to treat anybody with any form of respect.

Well good for you for saving yourself. But guess what? We don't need you saving us also.

I can just imagine what you are like in real life. You are probably one of those who seems to think that everyone wants to hear your lecture and lesson on anything they eat. Trust me, they don't care. Police yourself, but when it comes to others, just shove a hormone free, backyard raised, oven roasted, skin removed chicken leg in your mouth and let the thought pass you on by.

Well, while that was a good wake up call for you, it really doesn't mean you get to be rude to others. And read your posts--they are rude.

That's not an excuse to be rude. Keep your negative views to yourself. :rolleyes1

FTR, you're probably one of the ones who secretly eats a McRib all by your lonesome and wouldnt tell a soul...

ETA: I love subway! In fact I had a buffalo chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and olives... what do you say about that? The only side effect is that my body will be preserved forever! Woohoo!

Only on the Disboards does a person give a nice head's up that there's a bargain to be had at Subway, and the thread goes into a tailspin quicker than you can say "Five Dollar Footlong!" :lmao:

Thanks for letting us know about the $2 deal! We don't eat at Subway often, but if we're out looking for a quick meal to grab that's a nice bargain.

Some people can't deal with food in moderation, and it sounds like you are one of them. There are people out there, severely overweight, and out of shape, eating nothing but junk. Then there are people who have to monitor everything they eat and drink, maybe because if they slip up, they will go overboard (like a recovering alcoholic).

Most of us fall in the middle. My DH was in midtown on 9/11, and walked many miles to get to the ferry, probably stopping for some taco bell on the way. He eats his veggies, he eats his bacon. He's in great shape. My kids have zero body fat, are in awesome shape, and will be downing some packaged cookies when they come home from school.

I'm so glad I'm not an extremist.

My grandpa, who lived to be 92, had a motto: everything in moderation. Worked for him.

You went through an amazingly horrible experience that most people can only imagine (with a shudder).

Bully for you for getting your wake-up call.

I, for one, do NOT want to read your rude, snarky, condescending posts.

The ignore list is a wonderful thing. How do you add someone to it again? :rolleyes1

BTW, OP - thank you for posting about the December special!! DS and I love Subway! :yay:

I read this thread while eating curly fries & cheese from Arby's. :D

:lmao:

Seriously though, everything in moderation.

When I was first diagnosed with diabetes I thought I could never, ever have a cookie or piece of cake again. The nutritionist said no, there is NO FOOD YOU CANNOT HAVE. Just PLAN for it. If you know you're going to have dessert at dinner, have a salad with a ton of veggies (and of course leave off the bacon bits, croutons, etc.) at lunch. She said everything in moderation. There is no "bad food", just bad portion sizes.

I think occasionally having a 6" turkey sub on wheat bread with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, green pepper, spinach and a shmear of lite mayo would be so much better than a greasy hamburger and fries. But even a burger and fries is fine occasionally.

Sure, a sub sandwich isn't something I would want to eat all the time (but gosh, look what it did for Jarod! ;) ) but in moderation there is nothing wrong with it.

I'm eating a nice piece of pumpkin pie with homemade whip cream!!

Extremists are scary people, no matter what made them into extremists. Doesn't sound like a fun way to live your life.

Thanks for the Subway tip,OP. I know I'll be taking advantage of it some busy evening.

Happygirl, thanks for the heads up. :) We love Subway and even though I don't care for the meatball or cold cut trio, DH really likes them, so I'll be sure to pass on the deal. :thumbsup2

This thread is full of...well, something...:rotfl2:

Just wanted to say we had Subway for dinner.

My thoughts exactly!! :thumbsup2
