Just went to Subway for lunch and started to wonder if anyone has tried the Subway diet? And if so, what your results are.

Are they really billing that as a real "diet"? Any good diet needs to have variety. You can't get much variety at Subway. And while, their bread tastes good, I don't believe any of it is wholegrain. I don't doubt that their food (some of it) it a lot better than regular fast food, but I still don't think it's a good idea to rely on it for a proper diet. Unless there is something I'm missing about it.

Not sure if they are using the word "Diet". Just seems like I am seeing alot of Jared on the TV lately.

Just doesn't seem like something that would work to me but that is why I am asking the question.

lol....I haven't done the subway diet but I can say that Subway has been good for my diet. We try not to depend too much on take out but with 3 kids and their activities, it does happen. Subway (located very close by) has helped. I won't eat, BK or McD's. My DH, my youngest DD and I grab Subway and we get Mighty Taco for my DS and older DD when we need to grab a quick dinner. It's nice to know that I can get a ham and turkey sub with lettuce, black olives, peppers and onion and keep it under 350 calories. Plus it tastes great.

I know how you feel. I have a Subway or a McDonald close to work. Normally I will choose Subway over McDonalds. Just seems a tab bit better for me. Could be wrong. But than again Jared told me it was better.... LOL

yep, I've loosely done it to lose 10lbs or so at a time. The diet as described is supposed to be a good breakfast at home - heavy on calcium and fruit/vegetables, a 6 inch low fat sub for lunch and then a 12 inch veggie sub for dinner.

I didn't always exactly follow that, I often had one of the salads instead of a sub....I tried the wraps....and sometimes I made my own low fat sandwich at home. Subway all the time can get pretty expensive.

Subway does have a pretty nice variety. I know they have a wheat bread, but I have no idea if it is whole grain.

Cool - It is good to know that someone other than Jared has used their plan and lost weight doing it.
Keep up the good work.
That is great.

My friend has lost about 65lbs in the past year doing his version of the Subway diet. He always ate a footlong sub, but would always stay on the low fat menu w/o mayo and cheese and such. He now varies it with their wraps and salads. That is not to say that he eats Subway everyday, but when he make sandwiches at home or orders them elsewhere he tries to stick to the no mayo and no cheese thing.

My DH did a Subway "diet" for about 8 months. He lost 100lbs. He usually ate a bagel with lite cream cheese or a bowl of cereal with skim milk for breakfast. A banana for a snack. One of the 7 and under subs for lunch. For dinner he ate salad with some lean meat. Or Subway again. He stopped doing it and gained about 30 lbs back. He is now doing Weight Watchers with me. So yah it works. ;)

Samandmom ~ How much would you figure it cost him to be on the diet?

He probaly spent $30.00 - $40.00 a week.
