I don't think so...maybe they did and I just didn't notice. I've been eating a lot of Subway when I have to work my second job because I can stick with my diet. The next time I have it, I'll to pay close attention to it!
I don't like the texture of the specialty breads as much as the traditional, old Italian bread- they seem tougher. I like the taste of some of the newer breads, though.
I wish Subway still cut the bread the old way- they used to make a kind of V-shaped valley in it, and it helped keep all the "stuff" in. Now, they cut it into a top and bottom- my "stuff" tends to fall out more than it used to.

i dont care for the new bread either, i just like the white or wheat.
i dont think it is a freshness issue unless all the locations we have bought sandwiches from are having the same problem we have tried about 3 different ones

Without you buying me lunch it would be hard to tell
But what time of day have you been there. If it is lunch time one should be able to rule it out, but closer to closing time I doubt they bake new bread.
I just stopped going there on the way home, I have asked for white and they say they are all out...
A couple of months ago I posted that I thought all the Subway bread looked different, but tasted about the same. Not that it's bad, but not very distinctive.
Are they smashing the bread? I've been having a problem the last few times I've been there, where they'll cut the bread and then smoosh it down before putting the meat and veggies on. It makes the bread hard as a rock when they do that!

I have them scoop out the doughy insides of the bread after they cut it. It's more "pita-like" that way & I'm eating a lot less carbs. But it's hard to scoop out when they smash the bread while cutting.
