This has been my first year to sub and I LOVE it! So I want to continue next year. However, I really need to bring in some $$ this summer. I have put back a sizeable portion of checks, just need a tad bit more.

Any subs out there with ideas?

Thanks!

What about tutoring children over the summer? As a sub you should have connections to some teachers. Ask them if they know anyone that is in need of tutoring. I am a teacher and every year there is at least 2 or 3 requests put out over our e-mail system for summer tutors. Good luck!

Maybe working at a day camp or summer camp? Our local rec department and the college fitness program offers summer camps and hire people with experience with kids.

One that we know started a lawn mowing service for others on vacation while she was out for the summer. She got so busy she had to hire another teacher to help her.

I second daycare. Ours looses two employees every summer since they go to the school age program. I got hired for a summer sub and now became a full time sub (and now a full time summer teacher)
