stupid x-box question.

My bf bought a playstation 2 bout 2 years ago and it was great cause we could watch dvds on it. My bf just this summer moved away from home and took the playstation 2 with him. But he has a little brother who cried his eyes out that the playstation was gone so my bf brought it back and left it at home.

I will get to the point i promise.

For xmas i was going to buy him another playstation for himself but latelys he's been talking about buying an x-box instead. So here's the stupid question part - does an x-box play dvds as well or is it just a games consule.

Yes the xbox will play DVDs, My son lives on it, its an excellant gaming machine, get HALO, its our favorite.

I believe you had to buy an addition to view the DVDs on the XBox. My DS is at school right now, so I can't verify that info.

The DVD player is an extra purchase for the XBox, not a terribly expensive one, though.

Yes, it does play DVDS if you buy a $30 connector cable.

Yes the xbox does play dvd's but unlike the playstations 2 where you can use your controller to start the dvd you have to buy a $30 remote with an attatchment that you plug into one of the controller slots. We have both and the x-box seems to be a little sturdier.

You can buy a 3rd party DVD remote for the Xbox for less - I just got mine on eBay for $13.98 and that included shipping!

We've found that the PS2 is much more sensitive to scratches in the cd/dvd than the Xbox.
