Stupid Taxi Question

Believe it or not, I have never been in a taxi. Also, for various reasons, I carry very little cash on my person at any time. Is it possible to pay fare with credit and/or debit cards?

i would think cash only. we take them at wdw and have never seen any other option

I don't think you can pay by any other means besides cash. I would be wary of handing over my card to pay for cab fare anyhow. Can you not just draw some cash just for the fare and tip before you go?

Most (but not all) cabs have credit card capability. It's just easier to use a credit card for my travel. I turn away cabs that do not offer credit card payment.

Yes, I've done this for years. No, I've never had any fraudulent credit card charges.

Cannot comment about WDW, but all cabs in NYC have credit card machines in them, most are within the passenger compartment and you either tap and go (cards equipped with the feature) or swipe the card.

Through a little research, I was already aware that taxis in larger metro areas accepted credit cards. I was specifically asking about those in the WDW area.

I have used credit cards, but the drivers have been very nasty about it. Like most businesses, they have to pay a per swipe fee and that eats into their tips. I try to bring a little "taxi cash" but when I pay I always let them know I appreciate them acceptingy credit card and I'll leave extra on the tip and they are usually happy to accept it.

All Mears taxi cabs take credit cards. At Disney they are the yellow Checker Cab. Don't let the drivers give you a hard time. Just tell him you will call the number on the outside of his cab if he moans and groans to much. 407-4222-2222.

Like some others have posted, drivers typically don't like taking credit cards. I've had them lie about about and say they don't have it. When you pressure them, they admit they have it.

Many places are making it mandatory for taxis to take credit cards. But, they still don't like to admit they take it.
