Stupid Question About Okw?

This is my 1st trip home in December to OKW. My only request was a 2 Br non smoking room, no specific bldg. My stupid question is; Do they have bell hops to bring your bags to your room at check in like the other resorts, especially since my room could be a good distance from where I park my car depending on what building I am in?
Thank You all for your patience with me, this is what keeps me up at night. :bounce:

Yes, OKW does have Bell Staff. They are wonderful! But we've only used them when we don't have a car. They take us and our luggage to the unit in either a van or a golf cart type vehicle.

When we've had a car, we parked just "feet" from the stairs to our unit and hauled the luggage in ourselves. We pack pretty light, so it wasn't a problem.

I would think, that even if you have your own transporation, you can request help at the Bell stand when you check in.

Yes, any bell service assistance needed is provided, just like at any other DVC or Disney resort. I think fewer people use bell services there because of the easy access from parking to the room, but it certainly is available for those who ask for it.

Yes. The bellmen drive you to your room with a cute little golf cart thing.

You will LOVE having your car right outside your villa at OKW. However, if you have tons of luggage or heavy stuff and are on the second floor, you can always request bellhop services. Have a great time. Wait until you see how BIG your villa is (especially the balcony, laundry room and living room)!

The bell staff is wonderful at OKW. They out do themselves sometimes. When we have a third floor villa we never carry anything up, they do. I use them after a shopping trip as well. Please don't forget to tip $2-5 a bag. Those guys work hard.

To be honest, I've never heard of anyone at OKW or SSR using Bell Hops if they had a car and were not handicapped though I suspect someone will say they did. I bet you get some funny looks if you ask for that service and you have your own car. But I'm sure if you ask they will do what is needed.

As noted above, you can park close but might have to lug everything up a flight or two of stairs. I like being in control of my things so that option is definitely the one I prefer.

Sorry to contridict you Dean but I routinely use the bell man to help with the luggage. Why not, it is their jobs and without tips they make no money I don't think these men and women think I am silly to use them. I think they love that I use them. More "Disney dollars" for them. I can imagine a young father with 8 pieces of luggage, 5 shopping bags of food and two strollers, welcoming a little help as well. Carrying and getting is a job and they get paid to do it. If you can carry by yourself then more power to you. We are past that stage both physically and financially, so I pay. In America money always works!

Glad to hear it. I didn't recall anyone saying they used them in this way that had a car. Glad it's workable for those that need it.

OKW is my favorite.....I use the bell service , but I always request a top floor and pack tons of bags...they never seem to mind, but I have always tipped $2.00 per bag...and with as many bags as I have...its a good thing.

Several weeks ago when we were there we didn't even have to ask for it. The front desk knew we had a car and voluntarily asked us at check-in if we required bell service (we did turn down the service).
Those poor Bells guys must be some of the most underpaid in WDW ;) So I'm sure they welcome the chance to assist a guest MrGrumpy.... :cool1:
WELCOME HOME !

We've used the bell service and we had a car. We moved rooms one trip and with all the kid stuff, groceries (frozen & refrigerated), luggage, etc. there was no way we were going to move it around. They kept our luggage and put our groceries in the frig & freezer and then huffed it all up to our new room. It was great! He was super nice too!! There were a few things wrong with the new room and he was contacted maintenance for us and it was fixed lickety split.

It sure is nice to have bell service available!

Add me to the list of people who use bell hops. Always ask for a top floor and love to see the bellhops help me drag all the stuff up and down. :cool1:
