Stupid Laundry Question For 1st Floor Laundry People

I have a mesh bag hamper in each bedroom, and a three bag sorter in the master bedroom. I bring each bag down to the laundry room after consolidating all the bags. Works pretty well, except when somebody leaves a crayon in their pocket.

One peculiar feature of our house is the location of the laundry shoot. It dumps into a corner of the furnace room, which is also a work shop with various power tools, etc. The shoot itself is in my son's bedroom. As the house originally was designed, this may have been the master bedroom. Due to the location, I have the laundry shoot cover padlocked.

I take it down in the hampers (each room) and up in the wash baskets. Easy to know if clean.
