Stupid gift idea?

I love the idea. Maybe you could give her 2 mugs with hot cocoa with it too.... or one of those brownies in a bottle concaktion (sp?). By itself is great too.

I think it's a great idea. I saw a recipe binder at Costco that I bought for someone. It's kind of like a scrapbook for recipes, in a binder, so that might be something good to go with it.

My pseudo-niece just moved into her own apartment (for the second time, so she already has some stuff). I usually get her something personal (sweater, jewelry, etc), but would rather get her something different this year. Plus, we're trying to cut back a bit.

Last year she was over for dinner and really liked a dish I made. I was thinking I might give her a serving bowl and the ingredients for the dish, minus the meat, and the recipe. That would mean rotini pasta, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, garlic powder, and olive oil (I think that's it, though I might be forgetting something). Do you think that would be an ok gift or not so great? Maybe I could add a spatula and garlic peeler.

She'll be 23 in the spring.

I think it's a fabulous idea, but you need to include the recipe, handwritten if possible.

One of my nephews got married over the summer. We've always been close, and he lived with me for most of the summer of 2001. He was very enamored with the way I made salad. So for one of his wedding gifts, I got together all the things I thought he and his bride would need to make salad the way I do. I bought them a wide ceramic bowl, salad fork/spoon, an olive decanter, and the particular spices I like. I wrapped everything up in tissue paper and shipped it to him with detailed instructions since it's all about the technique.

I tried to write the recipe/instructions on an index card, but I kept making mistakes so I typed it. The reason I like handwritten is because I truly cherish all my mother's handwritten recipes. When I see her handwriting again, she comes alive for me, and I would have liked it to be that way for my nephew since he lives far away in Texas. But oh well! I didn't inherit the great handwriting genes my mother had so dear nephew got my recipe typed and glue-sticked onto a card.
