Ordered some stuff for my dog last week which included a travel harness. We are taking a 4hr trip on Friday and i really wanted it today. Package was shipped via FEDEX. I expected it to be delivered that way. Expected delivery date was today. Not anymore.

Checked the package transit online. The idiots have dropped it off with the post office instead of going 4 MORE BLOCKS and dropping it here!! If I'd have known that was a possibility I'd have said not to transfer it in the delivery instructions. I did NOT want Onslow's first ride in the harness to be the trip up to DE. I wanted him to have a ride today.

Think there's any chance of us getting the package today?

This is not FedEx's responsibility, but rather is the responsibility of the shipper. FedEx offers different levels of service for difference prices. One budget option puts parcels together into a consolidated drop-shipment at the local post office. A single stop to serve possibly dozens of parcels. You can see the effect of this efficiency in the relative prices.

One of the things that the postal service requires, in agreeing to participate in this budget shipping service that your shipper has selected, is that the first delivery attempt will be within the normal routine, i.e., next scheduled postal service delivery to your address.

Then the website should have noted this on the site. They didn't. I know there were a couple of items shipped free in that order but others were not. And while the postman does come today he could be here anywhere from 3-7pm. No lie. But when will he come? While I'm out for a scheduled appt. between 4-5pm. I'm about never here when the mail gets dropped off. Which means making a trip to go get it. I wouldn't have minded them shipping from USPS if they had made it an option. It would have cost me about the same anyway. And it probably would have taken the same amount of time. I ordered from Drs. Foster & Smith BTW.

FedEx sure does make the parameters of the service they offer your shipper clear:
