I finished Night Fall by Nelson DeMille the other night and I was extremely disappointed in the ending. Up until the end the book was a definate page turner. I like his writing style so I'll try reading Plum Island next. Hopefully I'll like the ending better.

Have you gotten to the end of a good book and been disappointed by the ending????

Wuthering Heights comes to mind...

I read one book - DD 2 1/2 picked it out for me at the library cuz it was pink LOL! - The Cinderella Rules. She really wanted it for herself, but I ended up reading it. So the love story goes along and in the last 5 pages it turns into a mystery with spies and international espionage! :confused3

Yup, the Bridges of Madison County - which was a stupid book anyway and The Horse Whisperer. This should give you an idea of the last time I read an adult book.

Anyway, The Horse Whisperer was quite good but I just didn't like the ending. Or I just don't like it when someone has to rekindle their marriage by having an affair.

The Other Side of Midnight by Sidney Sheldon. It was a good book with a really crappy ending and I never read another one of his books.

The Wedding, by Nicholas Sparks. Very hokey ending. It made me feel like I wasted all the time I had invested in the book.

off topic, but have you read "the charm school" I think it is his best.

I was disappointed with Da Vinci Code. It's just so far fetch.

I travel in my car quite a bit to visit clients. So I decided to try a book on CD. The first one I selected was The da Vinci Code. The story was engaging and entertaining. Then I reached the end. I had to check to make sure there were no more CDs left. I even stopped at a book store to read the last page. I couldn't believe that was it...what a disappointment.

One good result of the experience; I am listening to more books on CD.

I HATE when I read a whole book, it's going along good, and the ending is just junk. I feel like I wasted my time.

The Key to Midnight by Dean Koontz. I don't even remember what the book was about but I remembered that I was so mad at the ending.

Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. The whole book was great until the very end when things just happened too conveniently (I won't ruin the book for anyne :) ) Talk about deus-ex-machina!!

One that comes to mind is Stephen King's "Rose Madder". If you've ever read it, you probably thought WTH too!

My whole family are books on tape freaks! I get mine through a rental program and recordedbooks.com and sometimes I buy them from audioeditions.com. I think they are the best! I often listen while cleaning house.

The Charm School was an awesome book! I loved it!

But to answer the OP's question...the one book that had, for me, a really disappointing ending was The Runaway Jury, by John Grisham. The whole book was going along very nicely, until the end, when they made millions by "selling stock short." I just never understood that. I'm not a stock kind of person, and many people have tried to explain it to me...I JUST DIDN'T GET IT. While I had read several of his books prior to this one, I haven't read any more since then.

I agree with the Da Vinci Code! I loved the book but felt that the ending was just too far-fetched!! DH didn't feel that way, which surprised me because he's such a stickler for details!

I'm still looking forward to the movie however....

That is how I felt about "IT" by Stephen King. It was an incredibly creepy book until you got to the end. I was so disappointed at the lame ending. It felt to me like he just got tired of it and came up with a really bad ending. I wish he'd go back and redo the ending.

The Horse Whisperer!!! It always seemed to me he just got tired of writing. :confused3

I finished Household Words and when I came to the end, all I could think was "HUH"?
