On the side, we make dressing.

yep .. us too.. I never stuff the bird with stuff we will use again.. I always put onion and apple in the bird plus some flour but never use it.. the dressing is made in a pot on the side

She has absolutely no problem with chickens, pigs, cows, or lambs being eaten- she says it's because turkeys are so dumb, they need to be protected. I don't get it, but whatever. I'm just hoping she gets over it soon- I want to eat turkey again someday!

I do the same. An apple, onion, celery, and butter goes inside, but then gets thrown away. Makes great broth.

It's not that hard. My grandmother taught me over the phone. I just called her after every step. I was a good thing too. She died two weeks later and I was the only one that knew how to make it the next year. It made Thanksgiving easier for the family by having her famous recipe there.

My mom made it w/ me when we were home a few weeks ago, so I could have a practice run. Plus she sent plenty of sage w/ me, which is drying on my windowsill.

Love the Grandma story. For me, my grandma taught me how to do the homemade noodles. I'm the only one who can get them right.

She had so many wonderful recipes. I think of her ALL the time. I don't think a week goes by, that I don't make something that she taught me how to do.
