Do you cook your turkey stuffed? I love stuffing it's my favorite. Getting up early tomorrow to stuff the 22 lb. bird. I can't imagine not having my cooked in the turkey dressing. I make lots extra and mix in the good stuff that I take out of the turkey. Of course I have to sample it first. ::yes::

We don't eat stuffing from in the bird. Too much risk of contamination. I will agree it's delicious though!

I prefer stuffing that's not been in the bird. In the bird is too moist. I like the crunchy layer that forms when you pop it in the oven for a bit after mixing everything together.

When we make stuffing, using my MIL's wonderful recipe, we put it in a casserole dish to bake. We don't actually stuff the turkey.

Unstuffed...the bird cooks faster that way...less chance of contanimation and you can only get a little in the bird anyways

Stuffed, always. Never been sick from it for the last 48 years.

Never stuffed, we make dressing. Don't want anything inside my bird. Also as another poster mentioned, I love that crunchy top part.

I don't stuff my turkey with stuffing. I stuff it with cut up vegetables and apple. My dressing goe into the crockpot, if it will all fit. If not, then it goes into the oven. I like the crockpot style better--it frees up the oven and I don't have to fool with it too much

We've always had stuffed turkeys and have never gotten sick in my 66 years. You still get some crunchy stuffing by overstuffing so the part by the opening gets crunchy.

I had to run to the store for a few things this afternoon and say a lot of people buying Stove Top Stuffing. Not sure how that works out.

Same here and my mom always thawed her turkey sitting on the kitchen counter in roasting pan ( still wrapped) for a full day before . And we have never gotten sick. Guess we have been lucky for the last 50 years. :confused3

I have always stuffed the turkey. I'm using a roaster for the first time, so I've decided not to stuff. I'll make the dressing and bake it in a casserole dish. My sister-in-law brings a great sausage dressing, mine will just be a different recipe - gives variety.

unstuffed...................using apples, oranges and onions this year inside and around

2 kinds of dressing (stuffing) this year since we need a gluten free one for the first time

I like it both ways, but prefer it in the bird. Moist stuffing smothered in gravy. Good thing I only eat it at Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!

Always stuffed and always the same recipe. Love the moist stuffing. I do also make a casserole dish for those that do not like it in the bird.

My favorite thing to eat. I also only do it Thanksgiving and Christmas (and maybe a day or so of leftovers).

You are the 2nd person that has made the comment "moist stuffing" Does the dressing outside the bird taste dry to you all? Mine is never dry, I wait until the bird is done and I put lots of the pan drippings in my dressing plus chicken stock. . so I guess it sort of tastes like it would if I stuffed it.

I do the same- when the turkey is done (or nearly), I put lots of drippings in my stuffing casserole dish and it gets so moist it's delicious. One year I had extra time so I pan fried slices of stuffing in butter and they were crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Usually I don't bother with that, and it's crunchy on top and lively and moist throughout. No stuffing for me this week - but Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends!

Thank you. And frying stuffing in butter, sounds yummy. Who cares about a few more calories in it? lol I may try that with my left overs.
